🎉🎓 Year 6 Leavers’ Party! 🎓🎉

What a fantastic way to celebrate the end of an incredible Year 6 journey! The children had a brilliant time at their leavers’ party, enjoying dancing, delicious pizza and refreshing ice lollies with their friends. 🍕🍦🕺💃

It was wonderful to see everyone celebrating together and making even more special memories before they begin their exciting new chapter in secondary school. We are so proud of each and every one of them! 🌟❤️

A reminder to Y6 parents/carers that you are warmly invited to join us for our Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly today at 2:00pm.

We would also love for the parents/carers of Year 6 to join us tomorrow from 2:30pm on the school yard to give the children the send-off they deserve with a special Guard of Honour as they leave primary school for the final time. 👏🎉

On Friday some Year 1 and 2 children went to Gibside National Trust to enjoy a day of outdoor adventures. We started the day with some orienteering which resulted in us building a house for a hedgehog. Ours included a tv, pool, slide and seesaw!

After enjoying a picnic lunch we took part in some woodland activities. These included making mud pies, a nightline walk, mini beast hunting, bark rubbing and woodland art.

The children were fantastic all day and loved all the fun we had

⚽On Wednesday we will be celebrating England getting to the Semi Finals of the World Cup by having a non uniform day. Children can come to school in either their football kits or any non uniform.⚽

We will also have a change to the school meals menu for the day. Please see below. There will also be the usual jacket potatoes, sandwiches and paninis available.

Given the hot weather this afternoon, year 2 carried out a very sensible investigation into fluid dynamics, projectile motion and human reaction speeds.

Our year 2 scientists were all very engaged in our research!! Some might call it a water fight, but in year 2 we’ll call it STEM learning!

We are delighted to announce that our recent Dance-a-thon, in aid of St Oswald's Hospice, has raised an incredible £1259. We are overwhelmed by the generosity of all who sponsored our children - your kindness will make a real difference to the lives of local people who use the hospice's services. A huge thank you to all who contributed.

The Dance-a-thon was held as part of our fundraising for the hospice's Peter Rabbit art trail campaign, a fun public art trail over the summer months. Although the full trail isn't announced until next week, we are excited to tell you that our Caedmon Peter Rabbit will be taking up residence at The Biscuit Factory. Please go and visit him and don't forget to send any selfies you get with our sculpture via Facebook - we would love to see them!

In DT, our topic has been textiles and we’ve been exploring cross-stitch and running stitch!

We showed brilliant resilience and patience today and the children are so excited to show off the results! Well done Year 3!
