Bringing North East places back to life โ€” one memory at a time. Old streets, lost shops, then & now views, and the stories locals remember.

Step back into Edwardian Newcastle through the pages of a remarkable souvenir book published over a century ago.
These rare photographs capture Newcastle, Gateshead and the surrounding district as people of the time saw them, from bustling streets and grand public buildings to busy quaysides and railway stations.
It's easy to forget that these weren't created for historians. They were everyday views, sold as keepsakes to visitors and locals proud of their city.
Which scene would you most like to visit if you could spend a day in Edwardian Tyneside?
