We hope to see lots of NEU members tomorrow. Meet between 8 and 8:30 at the Gala Theatre, Millennium Square and then we'll assemble along Claypath - look for the large NEU balloons and banners.

The platform speakers for the 2026 Durham Miners Gala have now all been announced!
Centred around the slogan ‘The past we inherit, the future we build’, this year’s event will look to the resilience and collective strength born from past struggles and highlight how working people can achieve far more when they come together than when they are divided.
This year we will see trade union general secretaries Andrea Egan of Unison and Joanne Thomas of Usdaw take to the platform. They will be joined by Mike Jackson of Le****ns and Gay Men Support the Miners (LGSM), Andy McDonald MP and Durham Miners' Association Secretary Alan Mardghum.
Judith Kirton-Darling, General Secretary of IndustriAll Europe, will also be taking to the platform. As we welcome trade unionists from Sweden, Spain, Italy, Poland, Norway, Australia and beyond, Judith will reaffirm the vital role of cross-border unity in strengthening workers’ rights.
The platform will be chaired by DMA Chairman Stephen Guy.
The speeches will get underway on the Racecourse at 1pm.
