Today, our Little Adventurers headed back to Crawcrook Park for another wonderful adventure together.
On our last visit, we were saddened to see that the park gate had been damaged, affecting the safe and welcoming space that so many families and children in our community enjoy.
Since then, we have worked closely alongside local councillors and council play officers to help ensure the gate was reinstated. Today, we were so pleased to return and see the park restored once again as a safe place for children to explore, play, and make memories together.
This is what community is all about. People coming together, listening, supporting one another, and making positive changes for local families. We are incredibly grateful to everyone involved for helping protect spaces like Crawcrook Park for not only for our Little Adventurers, but for the wider community too.
Seeing our children laughing, exploring, and adventuring safely together today reminded us just how important these shared spaces truly are.

Today the Saplings enjoyed celebrating the spirit of the Blaydon Races while learning about this much-loved local tradition! πββοΈπ
We took a walk to Barmoor Field where the children took part in their very own races, demonstrating fantastic enthusiasm, perseverance and determination. Each winner proudly held the special Geordie Trophy as they crossed the finish line!
After enjoying a well-earned snack together on the field, we headed back to nursery to continue our learning. The children explored the history of the Blaydon Races through photographs, stories and discussions about local heritage, traditions and culture. We also talked about some well-known Geordie favourites, including Geordie trophies and ham and pease pudding stotties.
Experiences like these help children develop a sense of belonging, learn about the community around them and build an understanding of the traditions that make our local area so special.
What a wonderful day celebrating our community, culture and heritage! π

π¦β¨ Butterfly Explorers at Little Adventurers Barmoor β¨π¦
At Little Adventurers Barmoor, we have been captivated by the fascinating life cycle of butterflies. As part of our learning, the children have been observing the beautiful colours and patterns found on butterfly wings and discussing how butterflies change and grow.
This week, we explored these markings through creative expression, using a range of materials to create our own abstract butterfly artwork. The children experimented with colour, pattern, texture and mark-making, developing their creativity while expressing their own unique ideas. π¨π¦
To make our learning even more exciting, we are eagerly waiting for our very own caterpillars to transform into butterflies! The children have loved observing them throughout their journey and are now carefully watching as they rest inside their cocoons, waiting for the magical moment they emerge as beautiful butterflies. πβ‘οΈπ¦
These experiences support childrenβs understanding of the natural world, encourage curiosity and observation, and provide opportunities to develop communication, fine motor skills and imaginative thinking.
We canβt wait to share the next stage of our butterfly adventure with you all! πβ¨

πΏπ¨ Nature-Inspired Creativity in Action! π¨πΏ
Today our Little Adventurers enjoyed a beautiful nature-inspired painting activity using flowers, leaves and vibrant colourful paints. The children explored a range of textures, colours and patterns as they expressed their creativity and imagination through open-ended process art.
Activities like this help to strengthen fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and concentration as children carefully paint, mix colours and experiment with natural resources in new and exciting ways. It also encourages curiosity about the natural world, supports sensory development and gives children the freedom to explore their own ideas without focusing on a finished product.
The children were fully engaged as they investigated how different materials created unique marks and patterns, resulting in a wonderful morning of exploration, discovery and creative expression.

π²π World Bicycle Day ππ²
Today we are celebrating World Bicycle Day and the many benefits that cycling brings to young children.
Learning to ride and explore on bikes, balance bikes and trikes helps children to develop their physical skills, coordination, balance and confidence. It also encourages independence, resilience and perseverance as they learn new skills and challenge themselves.
Cycling and active play support childrenβs overall health and wellbeing, helping to build strong muscles, improve cardiovascular fitness and promote a lifelong love of being active outdoors.
At Little Adventurers, we love providing opportunities for children to develop their gross motor skills through outdoor play and physical challenges, helping them to grow in confidence while having fun with their friends.
π² Building balance.
π Growing confidence.

ππ Ocean Adventures in Sensory Play! ππ
Our Little Adventurers enjoyed a wonderful ocean-themed sensory activity today using seashell pasta, scooping, pouring and exploring a variety of textures.
Through this engaging hands-on experience, the children developed their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and concentration as they carefully filled, emptied and transferred materials between different containers.
It was also lovely to see friendships flourish as the children shared resources, played alongside one another and worked together in their imaginative ocean-inspired play. These valuable interactions help to support communication, cooperation and social development while making learning fun and meaningful.
What a fantastic day of exploring, discovering and learning together! πππ
