Our children have recently visited Belsay Hall and Gardens in search of the Wild Man as one of our Big Days Out this half term.

Excitement built as we explored the beautiful garden trails, discovering footprints and carved stone faces along the way. Once we arrived at the castle, we listened to the story retold in the lower chamber and bravely hunted the rooms for signs of him.

The reward at the end of our quest was the fantastic play park that awaited us.

Little imaginations were definitely sparked!

Our sensory ocean tray has been extremely popular so far this week!

The children have been extremely creative, building homes for the sea creatures.

We have also been practising our counting and number recognition through finding the hidden treasure.

Busy little bees today learning about taking care of the garden with National Trust Seaton Delaval Hall

Digging, wheelbarrowing, wateringโ€ฆ our gross motor and fine motor skills have definitely been pushed today!

We also explored new language as we talked about the lifecycle of a seed (shoot, seedling, germinate)

Every day at Little Risers, we encourage our children to take care of the planet through simple conversations and demonstrations such as recycling, respecting nature and picking up litter.

But today we had several special activities to mark Earth Dayโ€ฆ

We took our gang to Gibside to gather a range of fallen nature treasures and practised weaving them together onto our frames to create a planet Earth art piece. Thank you Norland Hobbies for picking us out some perfect blue wool!

In the afternoon, we made tissue paper suncatchers to take home and display in our windows. Through our crafting conversation, these turned into cards for our loved ones!

Who am I to go against the will power of an army of confident toddlers?!

The Little Risers are SO interested in all the bugs that we are suddenly seeing out and about, especially now the seasons are changing.

I was getting multiple requests to draw๐Ÿ•ท๏ธ

So I drew them a group spider colouring-in tray which went down a treat. So much so, that I was instructed to draw a general โ€œbugโ€ tray during their rest hour ready for the afternoon!

Watching their creativity flow as they carefully selected coloursโ€ฆ

The world needs more rainbow insects!
