Carhill Integrated Primary School

Carhill Integrated Primary School This is the OFFICIAL page of Carhill IPS, managed by staff within the school.

Our school grounds include a wildlife area, a gazebo and willow dome to foster reading outside the classroom and a newly painted playground where the children enjoy imaginative play as well as structured sports and activities. We take pride in our strong community links with regular visits to Coleraine and Garvagh which offer seasonal environmental learning opportunities. In 1992 Carhill was the f

irst controlled primary school in Northern Ireland to transform into an integrated school. Since the early nineteenth century we have always welcomed children and families from all faiths and also those who have none. We strive to provide a happy, stimulating learning environment for our children and coupled with a creative and challenging curriculum we aim to enhance the interests, skills and aptitudes of all our pupils.

⭐ What a busy first week back in P3! ⭐

We have had a wonderful first week back, settling into our routines, catching up with our friends and getting back into the swing of school life. πŸ’›

We explored the lovely story Our Class Is a Family and thought about how, just like a family, our class is made up of people who are similar and different β€” and that’s what makes us unique! πŸ₯°

We talked about ways we can show kindness, care and respect to one another, helping everyone to feel happy, safe and included in our P3 family. πŸŒˆπŸ€—

A fantastic start to our year β€” learning together, growing together! πŸ’™ πŸ’š

Today felt very different @ Carhill I.P.S!

Mrs Brownlow was presented with gifts and flowers at the end of term to celebrate her years of devotion to teaching, giving over 20 years to our school community and possibly even teaching the children of past pupils!

In June, it may have felt like any old summer break, but this morning when the alarm clock wasn’t needed, Mrs Brownlow’s retirement officially began.

We wish Mrs Brownlow years of happy retirement and spending precious time with her husband, children and grandchildren of course πŸ‘

🌟 BELONGING – We All Have a Place Here! 🌟

This week in P4/P5, we have been thinking about what belonging really means. πŸ’™

Belonging is knowing that you are accepted, valued, listened to and cared for. It means being part of something bigger and knowing that there is a place where you can be yourself.

Our classroom is a little community, and every single child brings something special to it. ⭐ Whether it’s helping a friend, sharing a laugh, listening to someone’s ideas, including others in our games or simply being there when someone needs a little encouragement – we all play an important part.

As part of our activities, we turned our photo portraits into colourful cartoons. 🎨 We enjoyed seeing our personalities shine through and celebrating what makes each of us unique. We also created a wonderful display to show that every person is an important part of our class community.

We are also developing our independence by registering ourselves for dinner or lunch each day. 🍽️ This is helping us to take responsibility, make choices and become more confident in managing our own routines.

And today's joke of the day!

What goes black, white, black, white, black white?

A penguin rolling down the hill!

In P4/P5, we want everyone to know:

πŸ’™ You are welcome here.
🀝 You are part of our team.
🌈 Your differences make us stronger.
⭐ Your voice matters.
🫢 You belong.

Here’s to building a classroom where everyone feels included, supported and proud to say…

β€œThis is my class. These are my people. I belong here!” πŸ’™πŸŒŸ

As always, a truly rememberable experience for all of our P7 children and a day that they look forward to all year around...but equally dread when it is over!

We are immensely proud of our 16 leavers, venturing of to a whopping 10 different post-primary schools!

We take great pride in knowing our P7 children will never forget this experience and wish them and their families the very best of luck for the future ahead. 🌟
