RMS Carpathia was the first ship to reach the Titanic, rescuing 712 passengers from the lifeboats. The ship was later transformed into a troopship, transporting troops into Europe during WW1. In 1918 it was struck by a German U-Boat torpedo and sank in the Celtic Sea.
Before the ship headed for war, many of its fixtures and fittings were removed. One of the original clocks from RMS Carpathia is now on display in Drawing Office Two.
