Next Friday, 29th January, we will be holding our annual ‘Garsington Has Got Talent’ show. If your child would like to enter, please film their performance and email it to Ms d’Archambaud at [email protected] by next Tuesday lunchtime.
All children are welcome to enter. Their performance must be no longer than 1 minute long and preferably filmed landscape. Mr Willbery will then make the clips into a short film. By sending in a film you are giving permission for the recording to go out to our school community and on our website.
We will send the film out for everyone to watch on Friday 29th January at 2pm. The acts will be judged and the winner announced during the Celebration Assembly on that day.
This is an annual community focused event that celebrates Science in the widest possible sense. Usually this event is held live at our Headington Campus, however this year we will be going entirely online! There will be fun videos to watch, live workshops to attend, activities to do and lots to discover!
The festival will be held on Saturday 13th February 2021, 10:30am - 4pm with resources and videos available to view from our web pages during the week after the event. To attend be sure to register your place. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/.../beyond-the-science...
"Did you put a rainbow in your windows during the first lockdown? Or a candle?
This Valentine’s Day, and for the season of Lent, let’s share God’s love by displaying hearts in our windows and around our villages.
Perhaps you could make heart-shaped biscuits or cakes for neighbours - remember “hands, face and space” when making and delivering them. Wash your hands regularly, wear a mask, and stand well back from the door after ringing the door-bell.
God bless

Chatty Tuesday!
Today’s Top Tip is to play with shoes!
Gather a pile of shoes and make sure there is a variety of styles and sizes. You could say, “What a mess! I need to sort these out!” Pull out a shoe and describe it – e.g. “This is my shoe. Its black and has show laces that I have to tie in a bow!” or “Here is you sister’s show, that much smaller! These are red shoes and they have a buckle.” Remember to comment rather than question. You could play find the pair and talk about similarities and differences. You can count the shoes and lie them out in a long line. Children might have their own ideas about how to use the shoes – they might lay them out in the letter that starts their name, or in a circle. Some might enjoy ‘polishing the shoes’ with a duster or drawing around them and cutting them out. Most children like to play shoe shops – add a tape measure, ruler or a piece of cardboard to measure everyone’s feet and try on the shoes together! Remember you can model new language to children as you play and have fun!
Each Tuesday, we will be posting top tips, helpful hints and playful activities to promote early language development. Pop along and join in the chat! Have you started to share these ideas with families every Tuesday?

Chatty Tuesday!
Today’s Top Tip is to make a ‘collection’ of items.
You could decide to make a collection of hats, for example. Choose a bag or a basket and set off on an adventure around your home (or setting) collecting items for your collection. Talk about the different items you find “Wow! This is a woolly hat for wearing in the cold weather! I’ve found a straw hat – this could keep the sun off me. I’ve got a firefighter’s helmet – this will help protect me!” Make comments about the similarities and differences between the hats. You could lay out the hats as if in a museum, label them together, count them or make a hat shop! See what ideas the children have and follow their lead!
Other good collections might be shoes, spoons or bowls. You could suggest more open-ended ideas to children, such as ‘Let’s collect things that are round like a circle” or “Let’s find lots of things that are soft and cuddly”. Let us know what ideas you have for making collections!
Each Tuesday, we will be posting top tips, helpful hints and playful activities to promote early language development. Pop along and join in the chat! Have you started to share these ideas with families every Tuesday?
