We are looking forward to welcoming you all back on Wednesday and staff have been in school today to get ready for your arrival. Just before you come back, here are a few things to tell you about or remind you of before Wednesday.

P1 children should line up outside the nursery/ round the corner from the P1 outdoor area.
P2, 3 and 4 will line up in the side playground.
P5/6 G, P5/6 s and P7 should line up in the back playground outside the back door.

Please make sure school dinners are ordered before 8am each morning, preferably as far in advance as possible.

All items of school uniform should be labelled with your child’s name.

Children should bring a snack and a water bottle which can be refilled in school if required. We have people in school with a severe nut allergy so please avoid products containing nuts for snacks and lunches.

If your child has an ipad, they should bring it with them every day and when possible, it should be charged.

School begins at 8.45 and children should be in their lines ready to go in at this time. We finish at 3.15 Monday to Thursday and 12.15 on a Friday.

If your child is going to be absent from school, please phone the school office or send a message on groupcall to let us know as soon as possible.

PE kit can be brought in and kept in school or brought in each day when your child has PE. We will let you know timetables for PE.

If you are not signed up on the Showbie app, please speak to your child’s class teacher as this is the main method of communication we use to keep you updated about learning and class information.

Please remember the car park is for school staff only and that parking can be limited in the area around the school. Please be considerate of local residents when parking around the school. The car park at the front of the school is for blue badge holders only and for transport dropping off children at the enhanced provision.

The end of the summer holidays brings a mix of excitement and expense for families.

New uniforms, school bags, nursery essentials and lunch costs can all add up quickly, placing real pressure on household budgets at this time of year.

Social Security Scotland has a range of payments to help ease those costs – from nursery age right through to secondary school. Thousands of families already benefit from this support, but many may not realise they are eligible.

Support for nursery-aged children
For families with children aged between two years and three years and six months old, the Best Start Grant Early Learning Payment of £331.95 can help with the costs of toys, books, clothing and other items that support a child's development. There is no requirement to take up a place at nursery to qualify for this payment. Families receiving Scottish Child Payment and are eligible for this payment will be paid automatically, there is no need to apply.

Families may also be able to receive Best Start Foods, a payment that can help parents buy healthy foods during pregnancy and up to a child is 3 years old.


Help for children starting primary school
Starting primary school is a big milestone – and it can be an expensive one.

The £331.95 Best Start Grant School Age Payment can be used for anything a child needs to start school, including uniforms, school bags, books and equipment. Applications are now open for children born between 1 March 2021 and 28 February 2022. A child does not need to go to school to receive this payment and children deferring starting primary this year still need to apply by the deadline of 28 February 2027 to receive the payment.

Children who are eligible for this payment and already receive Scottish Child Payment will be paid automatically - there is no need to apply.

Help for all ages - families with children 16 years and under
Scottish Child Payment is available to families with children under 16 and provides £112.80 every four weeks for every eligible child. It's designed to help with the everyday costs of raising a family and can make a significant difference to household finances throughout the year – not just at back-to-school time.

Check eligibility
As children head back to nursery and school after the summer holidays, now is a good time to review what financial help may be available. Eligibility is normally linked to receiving certain benefits, including Universal Credit, however it isn’t a requirement for some people aged 20 and younger.

Langlee Early Years Centre Summer Programme! We have tried to offer a range of activities, after reading families suggestions, and for a variety of age ranges - hopefully there will be something to suit everyone at times in the summer holidays. There will continue to be support for families with young children through the holidays. Parents and carers will need to come along with and be responsible for their children. There have been a couple of scooters which have gone missing from the MUGA pitch gate at the end of the school day. If your child has taken one by mistake please return it to school as soon as possible. They are both purple with JD BUG on them and were given to all p3 pupils a few weeks ago. One had several stickers on it whilst the other made a noise when being used.

Tomorrow is the Braw Lass and Lad visit to the school. It is also meant to be very hot. We would ask that the children wear their school uniform or black and white clothes to school but they can bring a change of clothes, preferably something light weight, loose and cool then when the Braw Lass and Lad have left they can change into these cooler clothes. Please also remember to supply them with a hat, sun cream and a water bottle.
