Year 6 experimented with different ingredients to create a model of blood and represent its four main components. They used raspberries to represent red blood cells, marshmallows to represent white blood cells, pineapple juice to represent plasma and sprinkles to represent platelets. The children explored why each component is important and where it travels within the circulatory system, using their new scientific vocabulary to discuss and explain their learning with confidence.

6JH have begun their final narrative hot write of Year 6, inspired by the short film Alma, which tells the story of a girl whose curiosity gets the better of her. In this lesson, the children are planning their stories, drawing together ideas from class discussions, short-burst writing activities and shared writing sessions to create their own narratives focused on fear and suspense. Their ideas have been remarkable throughout this unit, demonstrating the significant progress they have made since the beginning of Year 6. The creativity, vocabulary and writing techniques they are showcasing are a testament to their hard work and dedication over the year.

❗️UPDATE ❗️

We have assessed the school field and are pleased to announce that the picnic and Key Stage 2 Sports Day will go ahead as planned.

As the Great British weather can be unpredictable and the ground remains slightly wet in places, we recommend bringing blankets, chairs, waterproof clothing, and any other suitable outdoor items to help you stay comfortable.

The EYFS and Key Stage 1 Sports Day has been rescheduled and will now take place on Wednesday 15th July at 1:15pm.

Thank you for your understanding and patience this morning. We look forward to seeing you at the events.

‼️IMPORTANT INFORMATION ‼️

Unfortunately, due to the weather, the EYFS and KS1 sports day will be postponed. We are hoping the weather will improve and the field will dry out enough to still be able to go ahead with the picnic and KS2 sports day this afternoon but we will aim to let you know by 10am. We apologise for any inconvenience but it is essential we make sure it is safe to go ahead. Thank you for your understanding.

Since the weather has been keeping us indoors for PE, 2RS stayed active with some fantastic seated yoga. It was a brilliant way to work on our core strength, flexibility and concentration all while staying nice and dry. The children brought so much enthusiasm to the lesson, proving that a little rain is just a great excuse to try something new!
