⭐Graduate Career Profile ⭐

Eilidh graduated in 2019 with a BSc in Natural Sciences specialising in Neuroscience and is now a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Psychiatric Genetics.

Eilidh’s top tip for students thinking of entering this field - “I think to be open to any opportunities to get research experience! This helps you work out if research is something you’re really interested in before committing to a PhD (which is a big commitment)! I also think not to be disheartened by rejections - people usually get rejected by lots of PhDs before they get one!”

Isabel graduated in 2021 with an integrated Masters in Natural Sciences specialising in Neuroscience and is now a PhD student in Psychology working with non-invasive neuromodulation techniques.

Isabel’s top tip for students thinking of entering this field - “Research assistant jobs are a great way to get more info and experience if you think you want to stay in academia but are not sure of the specific field. I knew I wanted to do clinically relevant research but wasn’t sure of a specific field for the PhD until I started working at here and got to know professors.”

George graduated in 2024 with a BSc in Natural Sciences specialising in Chemistry, Maths and Physics and is now an Associate Data and AI Consultant for a specialist consultancy in next-gen technologies including data, AI and cloud.

George’s top tip for students thinking of entering this field - “don’t underestimate how important people skills are. I think most business problems are caused by relationship / communication problems, not lack of technical skill.”

⭐Graduate Career Profile ⭐

Grace graduated in 2024 with a BSc in Natural Sciences specialising in Neuroscience and has just finished a Masters in Psychology with the aim of completing a doctorate in Clinical Psychology.

Grace’s top careers tip - “Try to work out what you want to do and what you need to do to get there before making any rash decisions! If I didn’t need BPS-accreditation, I probably wouldn’t have done a masters degree, but I’m glad I realised I needed it sooner rather than later when I was looking to apply for a doctorate! I think researching your career options thoroughly is the best thing you can do.”

Lizzie graduated in 2023 with an integrated Masters in Natural Sciences specialising in Chemistry with a Year in Industry and is now studying for a PhD in Technology Enhanced Chemical Synthesis at the University of Bristol.

Lizzie’s favourite thing about studying a PhD - “I really enjoy the chance to lead my own project and focus it where I am interested. It’s up to me to make decisions and decide where to focus my time”.

Oscar graduated in 2024 with an integrated Masters in Natural Sciences specialising in Neuroscience and is currently studying a PhD in the Department of Psychology at York.

Oscar’s favourite thing about studying a PhD “I like that I do something different everyday, and that a lot of what I have to do is to come up with new ideas, either to solve a problem that I’m currently facing or to address the more ‘grand’ questions of my PhD”.
