⚽ A Huge Thank You to Friends of Berkley School (FBS)! ⚽
We're delighted to share that our fantastic parents' association, Friends of Berkley School (FBS), have generously purchased brand-new football goals for our school field.
The children are already enjoying having new equipment to support play, teamwork and physical activity during breaktimes and PE lessons. Their kindness and continued support make a real difference to our school community.

Ofsted praises progress at Frome primary school

A primary school in Frome has welcomed a positive Ofsted report marking a significant milestone in the school’s ongoing improvement journey.

Berkley First School has been rated ‘positively’ across every single assessment category. The outcome has been welcomed by the school following a rigorous evaluation process.

Executive Headteacher Dan Jeffries praised the collective effort in a letter addressed to families, calling the clean sweep of positive judgements a “fantastic achievement that reflects the dedication, hard work and care that defines our school community every day.”

The watchdog’s report heavily emphasised the positive daily experience of the children, describing Berkley First School as a ‘happy school with a close-knit community.’

We are looking forward to welcoming our new Year 5 pupils and their families!

📅 Transfer Evening - Monday 29th June
🕕 Arrive from 5:45pm for a 6:00pm start

Parents and carers will have the opportunity to:
✅ Meet key members of staff, including the Headteacher and Head of KS2
✅ Visit their child’s new tutor room
✅ Learn more about school life and organisation
✅ Meet the SENDCo, Inclusion Team and Senior Leaders
✅ Connect with other families joining the year group

We were delighted to welcome the PCSO, Will Mortimer, outside school today. He kindly supported us by monitoring the traffic outside and he has also spent time in our school with the children talking about the importance of road safety.

We’re really pleased to share that he was very happy with how road users were behaving around the school.

The children absolutely loved the brilliant road safety signs he brought along – they were a great visual reminder not just for the children, but also for parents and other road users passing by.

PGL Liddington has been an amazing experience for our Year 4 residential 2026🌿

From abseiling and zip wires to canoeing, archery, and the Vertical Challenge, the children have shown fantastic teamwork, resilience, and confidence throughout. It’s been lovely to see them step outside their comfort zones and support each other every step of the way.

We’ve also been so proud to hear compliments about the Berkley pupils’ excellent behaviour 💙 A residential full of memories they’ll keep for a long time 🌟

Finalists! Huge well done to Year 4 ⚽️

What a fantastic day at Selwood Academy!
Our Year 4 team showed brilliant teamwork and determination, playing their way all the way to the final out of 21 teams and finishing as runners‑up. We couldn’t be prouder of how they represented Berkley School.

After the matches, the children spent the rest of the day making the most of Selwood's brilliant facilities. They enjoyed exploring Selwood’s grounds, including Forest School and the play trail. 🌳

A big thank you to Selwood Academy for being such great hosts!
