Dear Parents/Carers,
Online safety is an increasingly important aspect of safeguarding, and recent guidance emphasises the need for online safety to be embedded within our everyday practice.
To support this, we have implemented the following across our setting:

-All rooms have been provided with age-appropriate storybooks that promote online safety. Practitioners have been asked to read these regularly with the children and encourage their participation and discussion.

-Online safety colouring activities will be provided in all rooms each term to encourage open and age-appropriate conversations around staying safe online.

-Online safety will be added to our curriculum and a range of online safety activities will be incorporated throughout the school year to help children develop an understanding of how to use technology safely and responsibly.

Staff will carry out an online training course to support knowledge in this area.
We would also strongly encourage parents and carers to consider setting up appropriate parental controls for children who have access to the internet. These controls can help to provide an additional layer of protection and support children in developing safe online habits.

For further information and practical guidance, including step-by-step instructions on setting up parental controls for popular websites and apps, please visit:

Thank you for your continued support in helping us to keep our children safe, both online and offline.

On this page you'll find useful links related to online safety available on internetmatters.org and hopefully save you some research time.

We are delighted to share that Sunflower Nursery is now Early Years SENCO certified! 🌻

A huge congratulations to Kylie, who has successfully completed her Level 3 SENCO Award in Early Years Special Educational Needs Coordination.

Her commitment to inclusive practice helps us create an environment where every child feels valued and understood. We are incredibly proud of Kylie and excited to continue building on the support and opportunities available to our children through her expertise. Well done, Kylie! 🌟

Libraries are so beneficial for children in the early years because they provide access to a wide range of books, stories, and learning resources that support language development, literacy, and a love of reading.

The children explored emerging technology skills by using remote control cars.
They developed an understanding of cause and effect as they used the controls to direct the cars' movements. This supported problem-solving, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and collaborative play as the children took turns and shared ideas while exploring how the technology worked 🚗
