Y2 have done a litter pick for the Action part of their Youth Leaders award today. They collected 2 bin bags full of rubbish in one hour! They were amazed at the different things they collected, including half a Barbie, a bikini and a phone! They did an amazing job and were very polite to the members of the community who came to thank them.

Dear Parents and Carers,

Further to our communication earlier this week regarding the recent period of extreme heat, we are writing to confirm that all Trust schools will reopen as normal tomorrow (Friday).
The Met Office’s red heat warning is due to end this evening, and following Trust-wide review, it is considered safe to return to normal school operations.

Although temperatures are expected to reduce, hot conditions are likely to continue. We will therefore maintain a number of sensible adjustments to ensure that all children remain safe, comfortable and well throughout the school day.

What we are continuing to do in school:

Ensuring all children have regular access to drinking water, with additional water breaks built into the day
Reducing time spent outdoors during the warmest parts of the day
Encouraging children to remain in shaded areas when outside
Adapting PE and physical activity, reducing intensity or moving sessions indoors where appropriate
Keeping classrooms as cool as possible through ventilation and shading
Continuing more relaxed expectations around uniform and staff dress to support comfort and wellbeing

How you can continue to help We would be grateful if you could support us by ensuring that your child:
Brings a named water bottle to school every day
Wears a sun hat (clearly named)
Arrives with suncream already applied (using ‘once’ or all-day suncream)
Wears light, comfortable PE clothing in line with our PE uniform
We will continue to monitor conditions closely and will adapt arrangements if needed in line with national guidance and Trust advice.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

URGENT: School closures due to red weather warning

Following a number of meetings this afternoon with local authorities and with the Trust, the Trust has made the central decision to close all Bath & Wells Multi Academy Trust schools from 12:30pm tomorrow (Tuesday). Schools will then remain closed on Wednesday and Thursday during the red weather warning period. Schools are expected to re-open as normal on Friday, unless there are any further changes.
Nursery provision will be closed, and nursery-aged children will not attend for three full days, in line with the Trust’s decision to close all provision for 0–4 year olds for the full three-day period.
We apologise for the lateness of this communication; however, due to the ongoing and rapidly changing forecasts, further discussions and decision-making have needed to take place throughout the afternoon with the Trust and local authorities before clear information could be shared with families.
Summary of arrangements:
• School will close at 12:30pm on Tuesday and remain closed on Wednesday and Thursday.
• Nursery provision will be closed for three full days (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) in line with the Trust’s decision for 0–4 year olds.
• School and Nursery is expected to re-open as normal on Friday.

Our Year 4 pupils are preparing to transition to Middle School in September. As part of that transition, they attended Kilve Court Activity Centre for a 1-night residential trip.
For some of the pupils, it was the first time they had ever stayed away from home, but you wouldn’t have guessed.
During their stay, they took part in a range of exciting activities including buggy building, climbing, archery, abseiling and circus skills.
The children showed great enthusiasm and resilience, with many overcoming personal challenges and trying new experiences. Behaviour throughout the trip was excellent, and pupils represented the school brilliantly. The staff are so proud of them all.
The visit was a wonderful opportunity to build confidence, independence, and teamwork, and all pupils returned with great memories of a fun and rewarding experience.

Here are just a selection of photos.
