Well 2021 continues to be a year of curve balls...

Unfortunately my family received notice from our landlady today. So I've decided to postpone launch of the Nature Club until we land wherever the wind of fate doth blow us! Fingers crossed somewhere not too far away.

I shall keep you posted. Thank you for the support so far

What is a Nature Club?

A nature club provides activities, crafts and games which strengthens children’s connection with nature.
By using imaginative play alongside scientific study and exploration a Nature Club can develop a child’s curiosity and spirit of nature conservancy.

Here are some examples of exciting things we will get up to;
- scavenger hunts
- small world play in the garden
- arts / crafts using natural materials
- weather monitoring
- observing / building insect habitats
- tasting / cooking
- nature themed games
- foraging
- plant id
- mud pie making
- learning nature facts
- building scrapbooks

Children will have access to the The Community Garden (Feltham Lane), with its beautiful array of veg growing, fruit orchard, pond, willow dome, open space and cosy, recently refurbished Log Cabin.

This club also hopes to support children in unwinding from their busy school day. So, if a child just wants to rest and relax, this will also be supported.

Just a little post to introduce myself...

Hi! I'm Laura, and I'll be running the Scrunchyleaf Nature Club and keeping your scamps entertained.

I have two scamps of my own. The one below won't be joining us often but I will be bringing my right-hand-helper Arthur most days. He's 7yrs / Year 3 at Avanti, and is really looking forward to having new friends to play with at our exciting Club HQ!

I have previously worked as a registered childminder when my children were smaller (you can find my past reviews on this page). My own mum has been a childminder since I was a girl myself, so I've grown up with the magic and experience of being with groups of children for most of my life.

I also work part-time for Shift Bristol, which is a community interest company delivering education in many aspects of sustainability and permaculture. I co-founded the company with Sarah Pugh in 2010 with a passion for wanting to make positive change in the world.

The Nature Club is a collaboration of all my favourite things; children, nature and community. I plan to weave our time at the Cabin with the activities of the garden and the changing seasons, so that the children feel connected and invested with this special oasis.

If you would like to know more about the club please feel free to get in touch and I will answer any questions.
