Luke Butterfill, our President, is a third-year History and Politics student who has been promoted from the esteemed position of Social Secretary. Now at the top of the committee hierarchy, Luke is determined to make this club unstoppable against the clays and a force to be reckoned with in the pub, with the ambitious goal of ensuring this club can rival even the rugby team at the bar.
Despite being famously unorganised — having been known to plan socials approximately half an hour before they were due to begin — Luke has already mastered one of the most important skills of leadership: delegation. His in-tray is miraculously empty, whilst everyone else’s is suspiciously full. With big ambitions for the year ahead, Luke is ready to lead the club to victory… assuming he remembers where he put the plan or who he delegated it to.
Luke’s confidence is unmatched, claiming that on a good day he can hit an impressive 7 out of 100 clays. Fortunately for the rest of us, his leadership is considerably better than his shooting. His favourite club memory is Will Shaw’s catastrophic fall at AU Ball — although we’re sure Will would rather we forgot about that one. Unfortunately for him, Luke is determined to make sure nobody ever does.
If you ever need to find Luke, your best bet is to head to the nearest pub. His hobbies include going to the pub, being at the pub, and drinking at the pub. His drink of choice is a Guinness, although he has one major complaint: warm Guinness. His other two dislikes? Not being at the pub and Will Fyfe. We won’t comment on which of those he dislikes the most.
Luke’s favourite social is the legendary Cheese & Wine Night, proving that despite his questionable organisational skills, he does at least know how to choose a good social.
With Luke at the helm, we’re expecting a year of big ambitions, bigger nights out, and hopefully a few more than 7 clays — all whilst ensuring the club remains unstoppable on the shooting ground and causes plenty of havoc in the pub.
