Rainy days bring puddle magic! ✨💦

🦆⛵💦 Wellies on, our little explorers jumped, splashed, and stomped through the puddles, plastic ducks waddled across the water, little boats bobbed and sailed, and every splash was met with plenty of smiles and laughter! Lots of muddy jumps, and endless fun! 🦆⛵💦

What a day at nursery! 🎅✨ We had a wonderful visit from the big man himself — Santa Claus! He spread holiday magic, shared some giggles, and made the season feel extra joyful for our little ones. ❤️🎄

This morning we enjoyed a lovely visit to the local care home up the road, where the children spent time with the residents taking part in colouring and sticker activities together. This visit supported the children in developing important social skills such as communication, confidence and kindness, while also encouraging turn-taking and fine motor skills through the arty activities. It was a heart-warming experience that helped the children build connections within our community, and everyone enjoyed sharing smiles and creativity together 💛🎨

Christmas magic has filled our nursery this week, the children have loved getting creative with some festive activities! 🎄✨

Through all this festive fun the children have been exploring textures, practicing their fine motor skills, early maths skills through pattern and shapes, and language development as they’ve shared ideas with friends

❄️⛄️ In Nursery this week we have been excited for snow! We made melted snowman biscuits (and talked about how the snowmen might be feeling), played with pretend snow (and got VERY messy!), designed a snowman (counting buttons and using good grip) and watched The Snowman by Raymond Briggs (enticing imaginations).
All we need now is the real thing! ⛄️❄️

🚆 Eurostar 🚆

Today we watched a video of a family catching the Eurostar train from London to Paris! We are broadening our knowledge of the world, learning about different countries and ways to travel.

We thought the Eiffel Tower was very interesting and all that but watching the Disney Land Carnival REALLY captured our interests. The music speaker came out and the ‘shows’ began!

🚂 Trains 🚂

This morning we talked about and shared what we already knew about trains. Then we went outside and looked for a good spot to make a ‘station’. We used the loose parts to build a train and put together a writing caddy where we could write tickets and hand them out. We also decided we needed a till and money to be able to pay for the tickets.
The imaginative play took off and Debbie modelled driving the train to London to do some ‘Christmas shopping’ which lots of the children enjoyed!
We ended the morning learning to retell the story of ‘The Train Ride’ which has lots of repetitive phrases we can all join in with.

❤️ We will remember ❤️

Today the children made a ‘Poppy on a Plate’ to remember the heroes who fought in the war to keep us safe today.

Remembrance Day can be a difficult conversation to have with small children but we used positive vocabulary to help them understand why we will remember our heroes.

This Sunday it will be Diwali; the Hindu festival of light.
The children made salt dough into tea light holders then decorated them with paint and glitter.

We think Diwali is a beautiful festival full of light and colour.

We wish our Hindu friends and family a very happy Diwali celebration!
