Inspired from the SAINT project Tourism 360 is investigating Circular Tourism models. It would be great to gather everyone's thoughts.

Share Your Thoughts on Circular Tourism:
Do you run a tourism business, or a business which supplies the tourism industry? If so we would be very grateful if you could participate in a short online survey. CRTR and the Centre for Mountain Studies, University of the Highlands and Islands along with our partners in Finland and Iceland are exploring options for developing an effective regional approach to circular tourism.

Circular tourism, based on the circular economy model, is a form of tourism that provides products and services without wasting limited resources, but also attempts to ‘leave things better’.

It is an approach that could potentially provide ethical tourism recovery post pandemic, and ease tensions between communities and tourism, as well as looking after our environment.

As part of the market research into creating models or running pilot projects we need to gain insight into current understanding, attitudes and identify barriers and opportunities.

Your participation and input will be very valuable for this project.

Slow Adventure is finally happening!

We are very excited to announce that the good work started in the Slow Adventure in Northern Territories (SAINT) Project will continue! In early 2022, Slow Adventure Ltd is launching to sell slow adventures and donate to local conservation projects in 5 countries. This will lay the foundations to expand to new regions, initially in Europe, followed by the rest of the world.

Slow Adventure Ltd was set up after SAINT to give power back to local communities, creating a circular model which helps them choose how visitors travel in, and support their natural environments. The carefully selected local members design and deliver the adventures, following the principles of Slow Adventure and reinforcing the message of conservation and regeneration.

Slow Adventure provides a better way of adventuring that helps restore the natural balance between people and nature and enriches the lives of all involved. Slow Adventure believes in the circularity of tourism, and the adventures enable visitors to give back to local conservation projects. Through the Slow Adventure Ethical Fund a percentage of every booking goes directly to supporting regeneration projects in the area local to that adventure.

The movement continues to grow and the community of Slow Adventurers will help create an all-encompassing circle of respect in adventure tourism.

We researched. We tested. We've now found a way to make this organisation sustainable. Get on board. Get back on board. Now is the time. We want to help. We need to help. Slow Adventure is a good example of how sustainable tourism research can lead to good for all. Slow Adventure isn't depending on grant funding. It wants to be a sustainable organisation. Interesting ideas from Norway and Visit Trondheim here. Thank you Petter Thorsen of Wild Norway for posting. Supporting small local operators and communities, encouraging people to spend time in and engage with nature, focusing on creating unique responsible experiences for small groups in vast wild landscapes.... Petter was one of the businesses who worked with us on the Slow Adventure in Northern Territories project to develop the concept of Slow Adventure for small businesses. If ever there was a time to help fragile small businesses in remote and rural locations.... If ever there was a time to change the way that people travel and experience the world. Now is the time for Slow Adventure. Things have been bubbling away in the background here since 2018 and believe me, we’ve been trying, but it isn’t enough. We need proper momentum, commitment, and investment so that Slow Adventure can do meaningful work to help the industry, communities and the planet. This is a time for change. Innovation. New ideas.
