A huge thank you to HQ Joinery Service Ltd who built us a new gate for the entryway to the nursery!

A sturdy, solid gate that is easy to use and keeps our younger children safe.

🍓 Today our nursery children and families enjoyed a wonderful trip to Wester Hardmuir for strawberry picking!

Everyone had great fun exploring the fields, picking their own strawberries, and learning about where our food comes from.

It was a lovely day outdoors filled with smiles, fresh air, and plenty of delicious strawberries.

Thank you to everyone at Wester Hardmuir Farm for making our visit so enjoyable! 🍓🌞

🌻 We’re delighted to see the sunflower seeds we donated earlier this year flourishing! 🌻
🌻The children fromHop Skip and Jump Nursery have been carefully tending to their plants, watering them and watching them grow taller each week.

Our stick insect eggs have started hatching! 🥚🥚

🐝 What an exciting discovery! 🐝

This week we explored a wasp nest that we found, carefully looking at the different layers and discovering baby wasps inside. The children used magnifiers to examine the nest closely, developing their observation skills, curiosity and understanding of the natural world.

✨ Today we were amazed to find that two of the wasps had emerged! The children were fascinated to witness part of the wasp life cycle first-hand and enjoyed sharing their observations and excitement with their friends.

This afternoon, we were lucky enough to welcome a local police officer for a special visit!

The children were excited to meet the officer, learn about their important role in helping our community, and explore the police vehicle.

The visit sparked lots of curiosity, questions, and conversations, helping the children learn about people who help us and keep us safe. It was a wonderful opportunity to build confidence and understanding in a fun, hands on way.

A huge thank you to Police Scotland North East for taking the time to visit us and make the experience so memorable for the children. We loved having you with us! 💙

Can you spot our wee friend?

This week the children discovered they could see a little bird in our birdhouse. 🪶

We have been seeing a blue tit flying in and out - and with the use of a camera we were able to see the mama blue tit resting in her nest. 🪺
