Six workshops. Six different doorways into holistic science.

Which question draws you?

🔹 Can geometry take us beyond our ordinary understanding of space?

🔹 What changes when optics begins with our lived experience of seeing?

🔹 What hidden relationships can be discovered between geometric forms?

🔹 How do language and narrative shape our understanding of evolution?

🔹 What can plants teach us about growth and transformation?

🔹 Can the natural world be approached as a source of meaning as well as information?

Emerson’s Holistic Science Courses run from October 2026 to June 2027.

You are welcome to choose one workshop, attend several or follow the complete series. Each weekend offers its own experiential enquiry, guided by specialist faculty.

Which doorway would you choose first?

Its quality is shaped by the materials selected, the way they are handled, the conditions in which they are stored and the attentiveness brought to their application.

During Vincent Masson’s workshop at Emerson, participants will explore questions including:

🌱How do we recognise materials of the right quality?
🌱What supports effective storage and preservation?
🌱How do seasonal rhythms influence preparation work?
🌱How can preparations support the individuality of a particular farm or garden?

The workshop invites participants to develop practical understanding through close observation, discussion and direct experience.

It is not about applying one fixed method everywhere. It is about learning to perceive and respond to the land in front of us.

What have you learnt through making or working with biodynamic preparations?

What does it mean to truly understand health?

We recently sat down with Dr Michael Evans to talk about health, healing and the importance of looking beyond symptoms alone.

Michael shares his thoughts on professional development, holistic healthcare and why the Health Studies programme at Emerson College is "very much a journey rather than a gathering of information."

A sea of chamomile and a quiet morning in the gardens.

This week, Joanna was harvesting chamomile for the biodynamic preparations, a seasonal task that she looks forward to each year.

As we talked, she described how relaxing and fulfilling she finds the work. Watching her move carefully through the flowers, it felt less like a job and more like a conversation with the landscape.

Chamomile is one of the traditional biodynamic preparations, gathered and prepared to support healthy compost, soil and plant life.

At Emerson, many of our learning experiences begin with direct engagement with the land. Moments like these remind us that there is value in slowing down, paying attention and working with the rhythms of nature.

Have you ever found unexpected peace in a simple task?
