Forres Sandle Manor An outstanding Co-educational Day & Boarding school for ages 2 - 16 set in 35 acres of the New Forest Key to our ethos is our unparalleled pastoral care.

An outstanding Independent School at the edge of the New Forest, which sits on the borders of Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset. FSM is full of happy and purposeful children who are clearly inspired by a dedicated team of staff sharing a wonderful sense of community. We welcome day children from ages 2 to 16 and boarders from the age of 8. Our beautiful grounds on the edge of the New Forest provide us with many opportunities to enhance our academic curriculum and develop our sense of community. A very exciting delivery for our Brownies yesterday! Our brand-new uniform T-shirts, yellow sashes and a whole lot of badges have arrived. There was plenty of excitement as everyone got to see the new kit and admire all the badges waiting to be earned. We can’t wait to see everyone wearing their new uniforms!

Year 1 and Year 2 took to the New Forest yesterday for a sponsored walk in aid of Julia's House Children's Hospice. Led by Mr Humphreys, the children tackled 5 miles around Hasley enclosure, enjoying the great outdoors while raising money for a wonderful cause. Well done to everyone who took part!

Six months to go until Sri Lanka! The countdown is on for our pupils heading to Sri Lanka in March 2027 for an exciting sports tour combining competitive fixtures, cultural experiences and the opportunity to make a difference beyond the sports field.

We’re proud to be working with the Foundation of Goodness, supporting its work with local communities, alongside our tour sponsor Spatial (https://www.spatial.aero/) and sportswear partner Akuma Sports.

How does the surface of a road affect a car’s speed? Year 1 explored this question through a hands-on science experiment, testing how a toy car travelled across different surfaces and textures, including plastic, bubble wrap, corrugated card and sandpaper, as well as oil and syrup. The children predicted what might happen before carrying out their experiment, then evaluated their results. A great opportunity to put their predictions to the test and explore scientific thinking in action!

Earlier this week in Forest School, Year 1 created their own leaf art pictures using materials gathered from the forest floor. After clearing a space to use as their canvas, they drew outlines in the mud before filling them with leaves and other natural finds. Their creations included a squirrel, a rhino, a butterfly, a bat and trees. A lovely way to combine creativity with time outdoors!

This morning, our Prep pupils welcomed Andrew Moore from the The HALO Trust to a special assembly in memory of former FSM pupil Timothy Goggs, who lost his life while serving in Afghanistan. The children heard about the work of the HALO Trust and the difference it makes around the world, while remembering Timothy and his connection to our school. A photograph of Timothy was also displayed in his memory, providing a meaningful opportunity for our pupils to learn about and remember a former member of the FSM community.

In Forest School recently, some of our Reception children enjoyed listening to Mark Ezra’s story, The Prickly Hedgehog, while identifying the sweet chestnuts on the tree above them. They then made their own prickly hedgehogs from clay, using twigs they had enjoyed foraging.

Reception had a fun day celebrating International Talk Like a Pirate Day! They loved being all aboard their class pirate ship, making pirate hats, writing their names on ‘Wanted’ posters, painting skull and crossbones flags and designing their own treasure maps.
