**2nd Annual Veritas Eco Conference - Eco Champions!**
Following on from the success of last year's Eco Conference, Veritas coordinated their second one on Friday 5th June in Canterbury.
Veritas invited children from 9 different local schools who have been involved in their own eco projects; the Conference was a chance for everyone to bring their projects together, present their hard work to others and share how we can all make small changes that make a big difference. We also had a guest speaker Tristan Osborne - MP for Chatham - who came to speak to the children all about our Oceans and how important they are for us to look after.
Mundella's School Council representatives from years 4, 5 & 6 have been wording hard, investigating, researching and collating information to present their findings at the conference. Our project, lead by Mrs Gretton, was all about water - researching how we can save water, use it wisely, understand how much it costs and ensure that our school is doing all it can to conserve water where possible. Mundella has been working collaboratively with Southern Water and Afinity Water for some time now and we have some water saving planters in our playground that reduce the amount of ground water flowing downhill to help prevent localised flooding, the children have researched how much water toilets use and water saving devices that will help us, they have been to check our water meters with Mr Dickson and spoken to the Finance department about our water usage and the cost.
Bill, Mia, Jakey, Scarlett, Ryan and Fowzia did the most amazing job during their presentation, they all spoke so confidently, clearly and eloquently about their water project, they talked about their findings, facts and figures, with a bit of humour thrown in too! Not only that but they represented the school with such maturity and pride, we were so impressed with their conduct. The icing on the cake was being awarded the Eco Conference 2026 trophy as joint winners with St Stephen's Junior School from Canterbury! A fantastic achievement - well done School Council!
