Easter fun at nursery today! 🌸🐣
.
.
We’ve had such a lovely day full of Easter activities, laughter and creativity. The children had great fun taking part in egg rolling — we’re honestly not sure who enjoyed it more, the children or the staff! 😂
.
Our sensory play was a big hit too, with the children exploring shaving foam to find hidden eggs, using their hands and tools to search and discover what was hiding underneath.
.
We also got creative with a magic painting activity, where the children used white crayons before painting over them and watching the patterns magically appear.
.
Over the weekend our seeds have grown so much, and the children were very excited to check on them. This afternoon we moved them into our greenhouse for the next stage of their growing journey 🌱
.
To continue our Easter planning, the children are also taking part in a special Easter dinner activity, where they can cut out the foods they would like on their plate. This encourages independence, decision making and conversations about food and healthy choices. Thank you for this lovely activity ✨
.

Special visit today! 🦷
.
Today we were very lucky to welcome Natalie from to our setting.
.
The children really enjoyed taking part in a fun and interactive session all about looking after their teeth.
.
Natalie read stories with the children and helped them learn about the importance of brushing our teeth properly, keeping them clean, and maintaining good dental hygiene.
.
The children were very engaged and loved talking about their own toothbrushing routines at home!
.
Each child was also given their very own toothbrush and toothpaste to take home so they can continue practising their healthy brushing habits. 🪥✨
.
A huge thank you to Natalie and for visiting us and helping our little ones understand how to keep their smiles bright and healthy! 😁

✨📚 World Book Day at Playbox!
.
.
What a wonderful day we had celebrating World Book Day here at Playbox!
.
The team really embraced the day with some fantastic costumes, including Little Red Riding Hood, The Hungry Caterpillar and Lightning McQueen, helping to bring some well-loved stories to life for the children.
.
Throughout the day we explored many different stories, linking them to a range of engaging activities and play experiences that sparked the children’s curiosity and imagination.
.
The children especially enjoyed listening to the story of Little Red Riding Hood read in Spanish, giving them the opportunity to hear another language and explore storytelling in a different way.
.
Our story adventures also continued outdoors in our forest garden, where the children went on their very own Bear Hunt and searched the woodland for the Gruffalo, using their imagination as they explored the natural environment.
.
These experiences support the EYFS by developing:
.
📖 Communication and Language – listening to stories, learning new words and hearing different languages
.
🌿 Understanding the World – exploring nature and the outdoor environment
.
🎭 Expressive Arts and Design – dressing up, imaginative play and storytelling
.
🤝 Personal, Social and Emotional Development – sharing stories and experiences together
.
A fantastic day filled with stories, imagination, creativity and outdoor adventure! 📚🌳✨

We love bringing the natural world into our nursery.
.
.
Having real flowers in our setting, like this beautiful hyacinth, supports children’s learning in so many ways.
.
.
🪻 Encourages curiosity and respect for living things
🪻 Supports sensory exploration through colour, texture and scent
🪻 Builds language as children describe what they see and smell
🪻 Promotes calm, focus and wellbeing

Small moments with nature create big learning opportunities 🌱✨

Pumpkins at the ready 🧡
.
A pumpkin patch role-play provides numerous benefits for our children.
.
Including developing social skills through cooperation and communication, boosting language development with new vocabulary.

Also enhancing mathematical understanding by counting, sorting, and weighing pumpkins.

One of our favourite seasonal activities here at Playbox 🍂🍁
.
Giving children a bag to collect autumn treasures provides multiple benefits, including promoting a shared parent-child activity that strengthens family bonds.
.
Fostering an appreciation for nature and the autumn season, developing practical skills like observation and sorting, and encouraging creativity by using the collected items for further learning and play with their peers here at the Setting.
.
An activity loved by all, why not get ready to hand these out, just in time for half term.
.
Thank you ✨

World Book Day 2025 📚
.
So much fun was had here at Playbox Nursery!
.
The children really enjoyed dressing up and seeing our lovely staff in their ‘Under the sea’ theme dress up 🌊
.
World book day encourages children to explore new books, engage in creative activities, and develop a deeper appreciation for literature.
.
These experiences lay the foundation for strong reading skills and a lifelong passion for learning and the love for books.
