It's today and this year we're concentrating on the importance of filtering out the false and gleaning the truth from the vast amount of information available out there.

One area we want to concentrate on is sexual health and the risks of online blackmail. It affects 300,000 people a year in the UK and there is a need to be especially cautious surrounding the use of dating apps like Tinder or Hinge. Of course there are safety restrictions placed on these apps, but it’s important to be extra vigilant when interacting with others.

Find out more about Safer Internet Day and how you can better inform yourself here:

Home - Safer Internet Day - BIK Community Safer Internet Day (SID) is organised by Insafe in February of each year to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially among children and young people in Europe and across the world.

LUKE DUGGAN!

Winning by a slender lead of 15 votes, it was a very close race, and we would like to congratulate our other candidate Jack for his campaigning efforts this week. Jack will be returning as our Green Officer, so it's certainly not the end of the road for him!
