Sunday question. If you took two weeks off tomorrow, what would stop?

For plenty of owners the honest answer is a long list. Usually the team could do the work. The problem is the how-to only exists in the owner's head.

AI can't help with a process nobody has written down. So start there:

Record yourself doing the job on a voice note.

Paste the transcript into ChatGPT or Copilot and ask for a step-by-step checklist.

Hand it to someone in your team and fix the gaps they find.

One job a week. By the new year, that's around a dozen jobs that don't need you.

Getting faster doesn't need a new system. It needs four steps:

Check how long your last 20 enquiries waited for a reply

Write your 10 best answers once

Let AI draft the reply from those answers, and a person check and send it

Give one person the job and check again in 30 days

Faster replies, and they still sound like you.

One of my biggest values now is a passion for learning. Which seems really strange to say out loud. ✨

But I always want to develop further. And I think when you stop developing, that's when you might as well give up.

Here's the part business owners don't always want to hear. Every time I've invested in something, and it's been the right investment for what I needed at the time, it's always come back. Always a big ROI.

I absolutely believe leaders need to understand AI. Enough to ask better questions. Enough to know what's possible. Enough to understand the risks.

But understanding it and implementing it are two different jobs.

And only one of them is yours.

WE RAN AN AD ABOUT AI.

It's out. ✨

We ran an advert about AI once. All we got back were angry faces.

People are frightened of it, and honestly, a bit of that is fair. There's an outcome here we're not prepared for and pretending otherwise helps nobody.

But there's also a good outcome. The only way we get that one is if we become properly educated about it, as businesses and as a society. Not frightened. Not blindly enthusiastic. Educated.

Because we're training this thing to be good or bad.

The best AI ideas in your business won't come from you. They'll come from your team.

Try this tomorrow. Ask your team one question: what's one job you do every week that feels like it takes longer than it should?

Write every answer down.

Pick one that happens often and is easy to test.

Give the person who suggested it an hour to try AI on it.

Share what worked next week, then pick the next one.

You don't have to have all the answers. You just have to ask the right question.

You promoted your best team member to manager. Six months on, they're struggling.

It's rarely that they're not good enough. Being great at the work and managing the people who do it are different skills, and nobody taught them the second one.

Four things that help:

Agree what their week should look like now

Meet for 20 minutes every week

Let them rehearse the hard conversations (AI is good at playing the awkward team member)

Get them proper management training
