Cheriton is a friendly school community, where adults work to ensure every child fulfils their potential.

As the scale of the tragedy in Nepal becomes apparent, everyone at Cheriton Primary School sends their thoughts and deepest sympathies to all those affected by the devastating flooding.

Our school community stands with the people of Nepal, particularly the families who have lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods.

Cheriton has strong connections with the Gurkha and Nepalese community, including families within our own school community. At this difficult time, we want them to know that we stand alongside them.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected and with those anxiously awaiting news of family and friends.

Remembering VJ Day

Today we remember VJ Day (Victory over Japan Day), which took place on 15th August 1945 and marked the end of the Second World War.

After many years of fighting, people across the world celebrated the return of peace and looked forward to brighter days ahead. We also take time to remember the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers, sailors, aircrew, and the many families whose lives were changed by the war.

As we learn about the past, we can think about the importance of kindness, friendship, and working together to build a peaceful future.
