IGEM has responded to the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Hydrogen's latest report on the role of in .

The report, published today, is the culmination of an inquiry launched in March 2021 which received over 70 responses and heard from a wide range of industry experts and leadership across energy, transport and manufacturing.

Our Head of Technical Services and Policy said: “IGEM is supportive of the recommendations set out in the report, in particular, the call to expand the UK’s hydrogen production ambition in the forthcoming Hydrogen Strategy and the need for government to act quickly to update energy regulations and guidance.

The need for regulatory levers to unlock investment and amend the Gas Safety (Management) Regulations (GS(M)R) will be critical to making quick advances in the development of a UK hydrogen economy, and to enable the UK to make early, cumulative contributions to carbon emissions reduction."
