This year taught me something shocking about ‘balance’ no one talks about. One of the hardest things I’ve learned as a businesswoman is that it’s never truly equal. This year has been full of lessons, some gentle, some that knocked me off my feet and it’s reminded me why I lean into my work when life feels out of control. For me, work isn’t just a to-do list. It’s my anchor. It’s where I can channel my energy, focus my mind, and bring order to the chaos. When everything else feels uncertain, I know I can serve, create, and keep moving forward.I’ve realised that balance isn’t always 50/50.Sometimes it’s about leaning into where you feel strongest… and letting that strength carry you through the harder moments. How do you find your balance when life gets messy? & Connection

"Leadership is not about titles or positions, but the ability to inspire and empower others." 🌟
I love this quote as focusing on the impact a leader can have on your team, beyond just the traditional authority can change the structure of the team!

Reflecting on a past chat with a fellow beauty industry business owner, I'm reminded of the vital role of continuous learning and adaptation in our field.
We delved into how keeping up with ever-evolving trends and techniques is crucial for success. The discussion also highlighted the power of digital tools in transform training and staff management. Embracing these changes isn't just beneficial; it's essential.
To all beauty enthusiasts out there: never stop learning and innovating. Your journey in this vibrant industry is defined by your resilience and willingness to embrace new challenges. Keep shining! 💫

I’m diving into a topic close to my heart - using apprenticeships to transform salon businesses. 🚀 With over 25 years in the industry, I’ve seen firsthand how apprentices can be game-changers, especially in tough times. 🌱
Apprentices not only bring fresh energy but also allow us to handle more clients efficiently. They’re like sponges, eager to learn and grow. By incorporating them, we can not only enhance our service offerings but also uplift the next generation of stylists and beauty professionals. 🤝
In times of economic downturns, it's more crucial to focus on innovative solutions rather than get bogged down by doom and gloom. Apprenticeships offer a cost-effective way to keep evolving and thriving. 💪
Let's embrace the power of apprenticeships to create more vibrant, dynamic, and resilient salons. Who's with me? 💕

Today’s focus is something I believe is fundamentally important: aligning values and culture in businesses and personal careers. 💼🌿
Why is this crucial? From my experience, establishing clear values and culture isn’t just beneficial, it's vital. Whether as an employer building a team or an individual seeking employment, alignment with these core aspects is key to success.
I've seen the stark contrast between operating without defined values and the remarkable difference once they’re established. It’s transformative!
To employers and job seekers alike, ensure your values match. This alignment shapes more productive, harmonious work environments.
Ever worked in a place where values didn’t align or found that perfect culture fit? I’d love to hear about it!

The other side to business…
If you're looking at anybody or you're listening to me, you have to understand that business isn’t easy. No business is easy and if somebody's telling you that everything's hunky
all the time... They're lying you know, I've been in business 20 years.
Business is peaks and troughs, you might see us on here and we all look totally relaxed, it’s not the reality! People don't post that enough on
Instagram and Facebook just how sh*tty things can get at some time.
Do you know what I mean?
It can be tough.
These feelings are always outweighed by joy and fulfilment BUT it’s important to share everything!

BOOKS!
Books are my little slice of heaven, a way to keep feeding my brain and soul with all sorts of goodies, from jaw-dropping fiction to the nitty-gritty non-fic that helps me level up in business. They've become such a part of who I am, fueling my passion for constantly evolving, not just as a salon or Hair & beauty Training owner but as a human being.
And the gold nuggets I've unearthed in these pages, folks, are too good not to share. Like, understanding the people vibe is key, whether you're selling the next big thing in beauty or trying to build a dream team that's got your back. It's all about connecting, really getting what makes people tick.
Take it from someone who's been gobbling up books like they're going out of style – it's worth it. Whether it's "Surrounded by Idiots" teaching me to spot what makes each client or team member shine, or "Atomic Habits" showing me how tiny changes can lead to massive wins, these reads have been my secret sauce.
So, my friends, I'm not just here to tell you what shade of lipstick is popping this season. I'm here to spread the word about another kind of beauty secret – the kind that comes from diving into a good book. Trust me, it's worth squeezing into your packed schedules.
