Another example of our sparring drills.
Providing a framework drill with a degree of flexibility
Today looked at 3 2 1
A Enters with 3 strikes (2 punches and 1 kick ideally for us)
B defends and counters with 2 punches, (or any two strikes if your comfortable)
A defends and moves slighly away to the back right but still in a position to counter
Blocking but moving away from the power side. Not to far otherwise you can’t counter back
A comes back with single strike and exits
So be first be last and move
We can also look at it the other way
1 2 3
A propes with one strike ( jab, lead Teep, switch kick etc)
A Uses the probe to enter with two strikes
If B counters then A defends and counters with 3 strikes then exits
If B just shelled up after 2 and didnt counter then A attacks again with 3 then exits
Its again first then last principle
You may be at the probing stage for a while till you see a way it sets up for the opening and 2 strikes
Catch & Counter
Welcome to Catch & Counter. Boxing & K1 Dutch Style Kickboxing classes as well as Personal Training
The result of sparring drills in your development is this.
Both learning, trying new things, flowing being controlled and safe.
No ego sparring, no random big shots, no defaulting to only what you know as your scared etc etc
Lovely stuff,
Another example:
Sparring drills like these are important to develop and further your sparring safely.
Here we have set parameters:
A attacks with a punch combo.
B defends and counters with a punch combo and kick
A fires a counter kick back
B defends and comes back with a punch combo and kick.
B also then adds double jab cross, double jab to finish as an exit. Making sure you come past the shoulder line to make it a clear exit
This time we exit behind punches rather than a teep.
So there is a degree of flexibility in terms of combos but you know where you are
Adding the exit is really important and often overlooked
This allows everyone of all levels to improve in a controlled way.

Pad work feels off?
Most of the time, it’s not the striker—it’s the pads.
Small changes in stance and angle make a big difference.
