I’ve always been interested in the concept of “community”.

Community has taught me that “firsts” aren’t only milestones they’re invitations. Invitations to learn, to fail, to help and to lead.

Those first steps create the next generation of neighbourhood community, connection and collaboration.

Firsts for me;

business breakfast. The opportunity to listen (like really listen), connect and thrive in a community.

Jillian Watt walk and talk in the most stunning location (moray our home). The opportunity to be vulnerable, to share experiences and to grow friendship.

ladies day event. The opportunity to be humble and kind and make memories for our courageous children and young people.

LLB. The opportunity to learn and continuously improve.

Always a pleasure to meet up with my tribe, “purpose ladies” especially during my student study week Robert Gordon University and I am seeking sound (authentic advice!) Look at the smiles on their faces!!

I haven’t seen these amazing ladies for several weeks, but we picked up right where we left off - filling our community bucket with positivity, affirmation, direction and purpose.

Shout out to smashing the socials, inspiring us with her talent strategy insights making those all important connections for us!

We will be considering connecting with likeminded business, social enterprise, third sector and college/university collaboratives over the next few months. We are excited to test our themes born from JCI Aberdeen of empowerment, leadership and thriving with purpose.

We are hoping to be in the North East area early December followed by some mini workshops in 2026 - more details to follow! (once my semester term 1 exams are over) ohhhh dear! 💜

Thanks to the “purpose ladies” and Val Grant .grant1 for making the cups of coffee today (mum study duties).

Who am I?

The question has lingered in my mind for months, I’ve deleted and amended this post so many times. Some may say that it’s career su***de; it’s classic imposter syndrome, it’s too vulnerable, it’s authentic or not authentic enough?. Even unkind or dishonest.

Last weekend, I was fortunate to attend the JCI “Purpose is Power” conference, surrounded by new friends and remarkable individuals. This week, I’ve read and engaged with beautifully written posts about our keynotes and the experiences we shared. The participants were nothing short of magnificent talented, open, and eager to learn.

Yet, despite the smiles, gestures, the nods the winks, the stories, the laughter - I didn’t and still don’t feel good enough. Is it a mask?

That feeling of 'not being enough' has been a heavy weight, and I find myself overcompensating, grappling with the guilt of not knowing who I am. All I seek is peace for my mind and heart. First and last.

Today, I stopped chasing that beat. All at once, summer collapsed into fall and I was reminded leaves don’t fall, they fly.

Never stop empowering others — yourself included! Empowering Purpose Driven Leadership.

From professional football to leading education, I’ve always been driven by helping people realise their potential through identity and leadership.

This week I’m putting that belief into action for myself. I’m back at Robert Gordon’s University starting an LLB in Law! Robert Gordon University

It’s a fresh challenge and a reminder that understanding your purpose and journey can take time . Here’s to new skills, new perspectives and continuing to champion others along the way.

I am delighted to be part of JCI Scotlands exciting “Purpose is Power” National Leadership Conference 2025, which brings together active young people from across the globe.

I look forward to meeting with the other key note delegates and discussing how we can support our young professionals in developing the leadership skills for today and the future.

My values align closely with those of JCI Scotland , which is why I am actively supporting and participating in this event. A lesson well learned in life.
