Further partnerships in our community bearing fruit (amongst some other healthy items)... :)

March has allowed us to help the Co-op reduce food waste by a further 14.46kg!

Thatโ€™s about the same weight as a Cocker Spaniel!

These brilliant donations have allowed us to keep students topped up with toast and offer other foods such as fruit salad!

It is always a pleasure to work with our partners, in this case Active Schools! ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ‘
After a very successful fundraising day for Pennies for Peace (Unicef Ukraine campaign), we are very proud to announce that we raised a grand total of ยฃ541.75.
Thank you to all pupils, staff and parents for their support for the day.
***Moray Snooker Academy Update***

Some fantastic progress being made by BGE students on our White to Black Ball Curriculum! We have two students on the cusp of making to Green Ball level which would be a first for our school - across the board there has been a marked improvement in cueball control and potting which is fantastic!!

Previously paused competitions are now back under way and we look forward to more kicking off - keep an eye out for names being taken!! ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿฅˆ๐Ÿฅ‰
Just a reminder that this support is available for our families. Please get in touch if needed... ๐Ÿ™‚

Please also see the link below for further support available in our local area:
Milneโ€™s High will be having a โ€œWear Something Blue or Yellow Dayโ€ on Thursday 31 March and be accepting any donation that pupils and parents wish to make in order to support the campaign. Donations will be collected at the door as pupils enter or can be taken to the school office. All monies raised will be forward onto the Moray UNICEF group to support the Ukraine crisis.

We would greatly appreciate their support for this.

Pennies for Peace

It is planned to fundraise for Ukraine and Moray UNICEF group would like to invite all schools in Moray to join in with this event by dressing in blue and yellow, the colours of the Ukrainian flag.

Pennies for Peace will take place on Thursday 31st March 2022. Any donation, of any value, will make a huge difference and initially will be collected in each school and then forwarded to the main UNICEF appeal. Representatives for UNICEF are already actively supporting the young people of Ukraine.

Please consider taking part in this event, thank you for your support.

Yours Sincerely,

Moray UNICEF Committee

A huge thank you to our teachers for a fantastic hands on โ€˜Freshers Fayreโ€™ style evening โญ๏ธ

And to everyone for their input in the presentation of supports and opportunities available for our young people ๐Ÿ’›

Just a reminder that this is on this evening.

Looking forward to welcoming you all tonight ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

โญ๏ธPlease see attached poster on our BGE Parent Info Evening! โญ๏ธ

Everyone welcome to attend ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

You will get a real flavour of what we deliver in the BGE and the extra-curricular opportunities we have for our young people!

We have sent an email to all parental contacts regarding the plans for the next two days.

โ—๏ธS1-3 pupils should remain at home and work will be provided via Microsoft Teams

โ—๏ธS4-6 pupils should come to school as normal. If they would like to order a school lunch they will need to complete a pre-order form at the main office

We appreciate that this is not ideal for our BGE pupils but we need to maintain a safe and supportive ratio for our young people.

โ€ผ๏ธCAR PARK โ€ผ๏ธ

Can visitors during the day and in the evenings please refrain from parking on this side of the car park.

We are getting a new roof on the school and this lane needs to remain clear for trade deliveries and vehicles.

Please share this post.

We are absolutely delighted to announce our maths week competition in Fochabers!!

All entries welcome!

A lovely family activity next week walking through our lovely town of Fochabers. The community have been so encouraging of this and the pupils have done a fantastic job creating questions!

A massive thank you to Milne's High School Parent Council for supporting this event.

The Parent Project

โ€ผ๏ธStrike Action โ€ผ๏ธ

Pupils attending the Wednesday college courses should attend as normal.

There is planned industrial action but Moray College cannot tell us who will be impacted.

โ€ข School link staff will check on classes to see where there are lecturers absent due to industrial action

โ€ข In the event of a lecturer striking, the College will support pupils in getting home (which would most likely be via U22 free bus travel โ€“ last time, some parents also collected pupils)

โ€ข Pupils would be able to come back to school if they want to and we can accommodate them to study or attend

We wonโ€™t know who is impacted until this morning due to industrial action nature.

Apologies for this coming out now- we have been awaiting any updates to share with you all.

Individual school photos will take place tomorrow.

Your teacher will take your class down at the allocated time.

Please ensure you are in your full school uniform for these photos tomorrow ๐Ÿ’š

A huge well done to all of our senior pupils for some of our best exam results yet.

Our pupils demonstrated and displayed our MHS values in order to get the results they needed and deserved this year!

๐Ÿ’š Resilience
๐Ÿ’› Respect
๐Ÿ’š Responsibility

Our young people featured in a recent Northern Scot article celebrating their success but we got the chance to do another photo with some pupils who were on holiday the last week of term.

We want to say we are proud of everyoneโ€™s achievements this year and we know that it has spurred you all on for this next year.

We are so excited to welcome everyone back tomorrow after the summer holidays.

๐Ÿ’š S1โ€™s should report to the GP hall period 1 where we will issue key information packs, new timetables to everyone and you will have a short assembly. Your Well-being and Attainment teachers will then take you back to class for the remainder of period 1.

๐Ÿ’›S2-S6 pupils should go to their Well-being and Attainment classes period 1 tomorrow, not to their timetabled class. You will also have key information packs, timetables and go through some key messages with your teacher.

Every pupil will be issued with a homework diary. These are back after some consultation with pupils last term. Hopefully these will be useful and well used by you all ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow!

Good luck to everyone at Milneโ€™s High School receiving their SQA exam results tomorrow. We hope you all get the grades you need and deserve.

However, if you need any support tomorrow some members of SLT will be in school to help. If you want to speak to someone you can phone in anytime after 8.30am.

I am sad to report that our rainbow flag was stolen earlier this month.

As a school community we were upset that someone would do this, especially in Pride month.

However, as a school we responded as we always do in these situations- with integrity and determination to ensure that our young people know that we will always stand up for whatโ€™s right.

Our young people worked with staff to locate where the flag potentially was and who could have taken it.

I am pleased to report Police Scotland returned our flag today and it has been put back in pride of place on our flagpole.

Happy Pride Month Everyone ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ
