🌊📚 August's Book of the Month: Sharing a Shell by Julia Donaldson 🐚⭐

We've just begun exploring our Book of the Month for August, Sharing a Shell by Julia Donaldson.

To introduce the story, our babies have been enjoying a lovely sensory tray filled with shells and starfish, alongside two copies of the book to encourage shared story time and exploration.

Sharing a Shell is a beautiful story about friendship, kindness, and learning to share. Its gentle rhyming text and engaging illustrations make it the perfect book for little ones, helping to develop early language skills while introducing important social and emotional themes.

We can't wait to continue exploring this wonderful story throughout the month! 💙

Our tomatoes have been picked every week, and they barely make it into the classroom before they're eaten as snacks! 🍅❤️

We're genuinely amazed by how well they've done this season, but even more by how much the children have loved growing, picking, and tasting them. Watching them enjoy something they've helped nurture has been so rewarding.

And this is just the beginning... 🌱

✂️ Snip, snip! ✂️

Our preschoolers have been enjoying one of their favourite activities... hair cutting! 💇‍♀️💇‍♂️

Using scissors to give their paper plate friends a "haircut" is a fun way to develop fine motor skills, hand strength, and scissor control, while encouraging creativity and concentration.

Some children carefully gave their friends a trim... while others got a little carried away and they ended up completely bald! 😂 It certainly brought lots of smiles and laughter.

What has Iona got in her Sound Box today? 👀📦

Today, the children discovered the letter P! 💛

During circle time, Iona and the team explored lots of familiar objects beginning with the letter P, helping the children recognise the sound through play and hands-on learning. 🧩🍐🖍️

There was also lots of singing, actions, and laughter as the children joined in with songs to reinforce the letter sound, making learning fun and memorable. 🎶✨

Our Rising 3's loved taking turns, building their confidence, and developing their early language and listening skills through play.

Learning through play is the best way to grow confident little learners! 🌟

Tea Time Tuff Tray ☕️🫖

Today our preschoolers explored a tea-making sensory tuff tray filled with teabags, bottles, pretend milk and water, squeeze bottles, pipettes, and tongs.

This simple invitation to play sparked so much learning! The children developed their fine motor skills as they squeezed, poured, picked up, and transferred materials. They experimented, problem-solved, and explored cause and effect through hands-on play.

The best part was the wonderful conversations that naturally unfolded. We chatted about who drinks tea or coffee at home, how families make their favourite hot drinks, and the different ways everyone enjoys them. These meaningful discussions helped build language, confidence, and connections between home and nursery while introducing valuable everyday life skills.

Learning through play is always brewing something special! ☕✨
