Redborne Upper School & Community College Redborne Upper School is a very successful, oversubscribed Upper School and Sixth Form.

Alongside academic opportunities and a vast array of extracurricular activities, Redborne has a working farm allowing students to gain valuable experience of working with livestock on a daily basis, alongside the challenges and joys of managing a farm. We also offer qualifications in livestock, environmental science and animal management. Redborne has been running a highly successful initial teach

er training programme for over 10 years. After a successful pilot year in 2020-21, we have been commissioned to run the Early Careers Framework training for recently qualified teachers across the local area. We work closely with the Connolly Foundation Charity, who have funded many, many projects across Bedfordshire to support disadvantaged young people and we are proud to manage several of these for the Foundation.

Our students returned from a jam-packed itinerary filled with unforgettable experiences. Some of the biggest highlights included:

🍫 Tasting fresh chocolate at the Lindt Chocolate Museum
🍬 Seeing exactly how the famous sweets are made at the Haribo Factory Outlet
🏎️ Getting up close to Michael Schumacher’s legendary private Formula 1 collection at Motorworld

They were blessed with beautiful weather all week, which made taking in the breath taking scenery of Aachen, Boppard, and Koblenz even more special. ☀️🏰

A huge thank you to all the staff who made this trip possible, and to our students for being fantastic ambassadors for the school. 👋

Massive news! 🚨

One of our incredible students has just been selected for the England Junior Girls (U18) Tug of War team heading to South Africa! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿💪

Not only has she made the squad, but she is officially the youngest puller selected from the entire country. To compete at this level against the best in the nation is an unbelievable achievement, and we could not be prouder.

📢Announcement! Arlesey Youth Club is officially open! 🎒✨

Need something to do over the summer? The new Youth Work Practitioner from The Children's Society, is running a youth club in Arlesey every Tuesday from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

It’s a safe, brilliant space for young people to hang out, meet new friends, learn new skills, and take part in plenty of fun activities. They also run brilliant taster sessions and masterclasses to get involved in.

Last week, we were thrilled to welcome back former student Lewis Brown, who is now a successful professional composer! 🎹✨

Lewis spent time with our Year 9 and 10 GCSE Music students, sharing his journey into the music industry and giving them a behind-the-scenes look at some of the exciting projects he has worked on. It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to see where hard work and a passion for music can lead.

🌍🏆 DANCE WORLD CHAMPIONS! 🏆🌍

Huge congratulations to two of our GCSE Dance students, who have achieved an incredible title at the Disco Freestyle World Championships over the weekend!

Competing at the iconic Blackpool Winter Gardens, the girls took on the Under 16 Girls’ Pairs event against a massive field of 41 pairs from all across the globe, including competitors from as far away as South Africa.

After battling through five extremely tough qualifying rounds, they made it to the final five and were ultimately crowned U16 Freestyle Pairs World Champions! 🥇✨

This is a phenomenal achievement and a true testament to their immense talent, hard work, and dedication. The entire dance department and school community are incredibly proud of your outstanding success.

💃 A fantastic start to the GCSE Dance course and a super opportunity...see details below🌟

Our students kicked off the term with an amazing 2-hour dance workshop led by Redborne alumni Holly Lake. Holly guided the groups through technical warm-ups and dance phrases, focusing on elevating the girls' performance skills. Both groups fully threw themselves into the session and were absolutely brilliant!

Holly currently teaches graded, vocational, and non-syllabus classes for all abilities at The Bedfordshire School of Dance and Drama, covering jazz, modern, tap, ballet, and strength & conditioning.
