A nice 16th note pattern on the hats, back beat and common bass drum groove. Add in subtle ghost notes to decorate and you have yourself a very fun groove to work with.

Warm up singles exercise with shifting right 🦶🏻

This is a great way to get the muscles flowing and brain engaged before a show.

The placement of the right foot shifting a 16th note each bar creates a nice complex sounding pattern.

Start slow and speed up. Also, orchestrate it around the kit for bonus points 💯

Introducing Gap Groove Academy!

After years of playing and tuition, I've made the decision to pass on my skills and knowledge to the next budding drummer out there!

I will be the first to admit that I wasn't the greatest student, but that isn't because I didn't enjoy drums, it's because the education around it, for me anyway, didn't resonate and it became a slog.

My aim is to teach each student individually and work towards THEIR goals and drives.

Some just want to learn tracks, some want to be in a professional band, and some want to work towards official grades. That's where I come in to cover it all.

Each of my lessons, once basic foundations and technique are developed, is tailored and built around my student.

Having initially built my music skills in orchestras, I can cover work in all styles if my student doesn't click with certain genres. I can also teach students to read drum notation, a skill overlooked in this discipline, but can be vitally important.

I'm also fully DBS cleared.
