New project alert! 🚚

At our Young Makers Workshops, children get hands-on with real materials and proper tools.

Our new ‘Mini Cars’ project includes sawing, drilling, gluing and building. They’ll follow instructions for their first one, then invent a second design of their own with all their new skills 😊

This will be one of the many projects kids can choose from at our Young Makers Summer Workshops, alongside all their favourites such as cool characters and mini villages.

Dates available from 27th July - 7th August.

Ever wanted to learn traditional woodworking skills?

There’s something incredibly satisfying about creating a joint that fits perfectly.

On our Mortise & Tenon workshop, you’ll learn traditional hand tool skills, improve your accuracy and leave with techniques you’ll use for years to come.

We’ve still got a few places available this Friday (10th July). And with another heatwave on the way, you’ll be pleased to know the workshop is fully air conditioned, so you can learn new skills while keeping cool!

Jonty works incredibly hard teaching courses, making kits, and juggling all the behind-the-scenes jobs that come with running a small family business. But no matter how busy things get, he always makes time for the two people who matter most – our own little mini makers.

It got me thinking recently...

What DIY jobs are still on your “one day I’ll get round to that” list?

For many people, they don’t know where to start and so they don’t!

I hear the same things all the time:

“I’m worried I’ll make a mess of it.”

“I don’t know which tools to buy.”

“What if I electrocute myself?!”

The funny thing is, most people are far more capable than they think. Usually they just need someone to explain the basics and give them the confidence to have a go.

The number one thing we’ve learnt over years of teaching woodwork to kids is


They won’t get it right first time.

And that’s okay!

In fact, when they miss a nail, put something in the wrong place or have to try again, that’s where the real learning happens 😊

That’s the idea behind our Young Woodworkers’ Hammer & Nails Project Kit.

The hands-on projects in the kit teach children how to use a hammer and nails properly
 not by getting it perfect straight away, but by trying, missing, adjusting, and improving.

They follow our friendly video tutorials, practice step-by-step, and build real skills through ‘doing’.

And no
 they probably won’t get it right first time! But that’s the point. By the end, they’ll be confidently driving in nails and feeling proud of what they’ve made.
