I love this time of year… cool mornings, the riot of colour from the spring flowers and the chorus of birdsong providing an entertaining soundtrack.. After a crazy week at work, just getting outside and spending some time in nature is just what is needed to start the weekend!

So this month I have really put the ‘a little each day adds up to a lot over time’ philosophy to the test. I signed up to run 40 miles in January to raise funds for The Royal Marsden. As a health coach, I encourage my clients to break big scary goals down into manageable chunks & this is what I did. I knew I had to run a minimum of 2.2km each day to hit my goal & if I wanted to run 60miles / 100km then it was 3.2km a day. So I started & tracked my progress, & pushed myself out the door when I wasn’t feeling it. I roped in friends to run with me for company & support & today I achieved my big hairy stretch goal! Whoop whoop!
Tell me, what big goal are you taking daily small steps towards at the moment?

So this month is all about challenging myself… I slipped into a non running rut last year when my lovely running buddy moved too far away 😢
This month I’m challenging myself to run 60 miles for the Royal Marsden. It’s tough… especially when it’s wet, cold, muddy & very slippery but… I’m appreciative of the lesson I’m learning which is that you can surprise yourself with what you are capable of when you commit & just focus on taking the next step.
Thanks for all the support! Xx

I love this quote, almost as much as I love Rosamund Pike! Although I also want to edit it to… “I feel my best…”
I’ve just spent a week by the sea & my favourite moments were walking along the beach or the sea wall, the wind whipping my hair into a mess & the sun bringing out my freckles!
Tell me… when do you feel your best? Xx

Supper for when it’s too hot to cook or make anything complicated!
Sometimes it’s the simplest things that make a delicious, nutritious & gut friendly meal… perfectly ripe tomatoes, fresh basil, garlic, olive oil & seasoning piled on to yesterday’s sourdough… delish & only 5 mins prep!

Me time…
I’m shattered (as you can probably tell!). So why am I walking the dog at 6am?
Because it’s the one hour of today that I can carve out just for me… for my mental & physical well-being. I know that an hour of fresh air with the birds, squirrels & bunnies will make me feel so much better today than an hour lying in bed trying & failing to go back to sleep while I ruminate on my crazy work diary.
It did t used to be this way but over the years, I’ve learnt what I need to support my well-being & I choose to take those actions.
Tell me…what have you learnt recently about your needs & how are you prioritising those conscious actions? Xx

Happy World Ocean Day!
I love the beach & this is one of my favourite in the whole world…
Once a year, my crazy extended family go for a dawn swim in memory of my late grandmother. It is a wonderful tribute to her &, once you’ve moved past the cold (no wetsuits allowed!), it is incredibly reinvigorating & restorative.
I’m looking forward to spending some time by the sea this summer but I’m also mindful that we have a big role to play in cleaning up our oceans so that we can enjoy them. Reducing plastic usage, reusing & recycling where we can & at the very least, not littering are all things we can do & teach our kids to do, daily.
Back to the beach… I’d love to hear about your favourite beaches & why they’re special!

This weekend I have ‘gardened’, read the best part of a book & spent lots of fun laughing at my boys playing in their oversized paddling pool… I’ve done no work & been v antisocial… & it’s been great!
Sometimes we just need to go back to basics to recharge…
Tell me… how have you recharged this weekend? Xx
