Congratulations to Nathan, Winner of the Fleet Town Council sweet jar competition! 🍭🍬🍫

🎉 Carnival Sweet Winner! 🍬🏆

A huge congratulations to Nathan, the winner of our FTC Carnival sweet jar competition!

The jar contained 278 sweets, and Nathan’s guess of 280 was the closest – what a fantastic guess! 🎯 We were delighted to present him with his well-deserved prize.

It was brilliant to meet so many residents at the carnival and we really enjoyed the chance to chat, connect, and share some fun with the community. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, joined in, and took part in our competition.

At FTC, we love creating opportunities to engage with our residents and strengthen our community connections. We’re looking forward to attending more events and meeting even more of you in the future!

The Sharyn Wheale Councillor’s Award was created in memory or Sharyn Wheale, a long-serving councillor, representing Fleet East for almost 32 years and elected Chairman of the Council twice.

Sharyn sadly passed away in April 2022 and as an enthusiastic figure who had a long history with , organising, promoting, volunteering and oftentimes acting as a judge for our community awards and competitions, she is sorely missed.

The Carnival Committee established the Anthony Barrell Committee’s Choice Award, following the sad passing of our Carnival Vice President and former Treasurer in late 2022.

Anthony joined the committee in 1989, serving as Treasurer for 25 years. He was a vital part of Carnival in so many ways and the Committee were incredibly fortunate to have Anthony involved, sharing in his fundraising quest for local charities. Anthony was an integral part of the committee and he is deeply missed.

Now we've shared the news of our wonderful award winners, we'd like to pause and say one enormous thank you to the incredible people who made yesterday's Fleet & District Carnival such a success.

For 12 months, our dedicated Carnival Committee has worked tirelessly behind the scenes, planning, organising, problem solving and bringing together every detail needed to make this milestone celebration possible. Their commitment and passion have been truly remarkable.

A huge thank you also goes to our fantastic volunteers, who gave up their time to help before, during and after the event. From setting up on Friday to stewarding, supporting procession, fielding questions, picking up litter, keeping everything running smoothly and packing away at the end of the day, your enthusiasm and hard work made all the difference.

We'd also like to thank everyone who took part, performed, entered the procession, sponsored the event and came along to celebrate with us. Seeing our community come together to mark 70 years of was something truly special.

To every committee member and volunteer: thank you. Your dedication, generosity and community spirit are what keep this wonderful tradition alive.

Here's to another fantastic 70 years! 🎉❤️
