What a wonderful morning! 🧵✨
Today I ran my first charity sewing session to make bags for the local food bank, and I couldn't be happier with how it went. We had a full class of lovely, helpful people who brought so much great energy to the room. Together, we made 13 bags during the session, and even more have been taken home by everyone to finish up!
As a sweet bonus, someone brought in the most delicious homemade cupcakes to keep us fueled.
A massive thank you to everyone who came out, donated their time, and helped support a great cause. I'm already looking forward to the next one! ❤️🛍️

Are you, or do you know anyone, who may be interested in dressmaking classes on a Thursday afternoon? 12:30pm - 3pm at Grove Farm, Crookham village.

My September/October courses are only 3 weeks long rather than the usual 5, so a good opportunity to have a go and see if its something for you?

The classes are mixed ability, you need your own sewing machine and project 🧵🪡

Link below to book or if you know someone to share with, thank you and hope to see you on a course soon 😊

Thursday afternoon dressmaking with Lareen is a friendly 3-week dressmaking course to learn how to create beautiful, handmade garments with confidence. Each session begins with a warm, inclusive goal-setting chat, where learners can share what they’d like to achieve that day. Whether it’s tackli...

💜

Today I've been making lavender wands, and it reminded me so much of why I love making bespoke clothes.

Both start with simple materials and a little patience. The process can't be rushed; it's about taking time, working mindfully, and enjoying the rhythm of creating something beautiful with your own hands.

As I wove the ribbons through the lavender stems, I found myself thinking about sewing. Each stitch, like each ribbon, contributes to something that's both practical and beautiful. There's something incredibly satisfying about preserving these traditional skills in a world that often moves far too fast.

Sometimes I genuinely feel like I was born in the wrong era 😆. Give me handmade crafts, sewing, lavender in the garden, and a slower pace of life any day.

Do you enjoy making things by hand? I'd love to know what creative projects bring you a little peace. 💜🌿

Not sewing-related, but too special not to share! ✨
After visiting the Commonwealth War Graves at St Nicholas' Church, Brockenhurst, we found the perfect spot to watch the 2026 partial solar eclipse. A peaceful moment surrounded by history, reflection and nature. Sometimes stepping away from our projects provides the inspiration we need for the next one. 🌞🌙🧵💛

Visible mending at its best! 🌷
I created this reel to share how I repaired my dress using free-motion embroidery after it ended up with three holes. To say the holes were in a particularly awkward spot at the front was an understatement, so I needed a solution that would be both practical and beautiful.
By layering fabrics and stitching a floral border in coordinating shades, I was able to turn the damage into a decorative feature. The finished piece looks elegant and intentional, proving that mending doesn't have to be hidden to be successful.
I'd love to know what you think of the transformation! ✨💕

Do you subscribe to my YouTube channel... or did you even know I have one? 😊 (find the link Link in my bio)
I create videos on pattern cutting, garment adjustments, and sewing techniques, so help is always on hand whenever you need it.
Last month, my channel received 952 views, and it's encouraging to think that I may have helped someone overcome a sewing challenge, improve a fit, or gain confidence in their dressmaking skills.
One of the most rewarding things I've received was this message from a former student:
"Thank you again, it all started with your help in college and I wouldn't have gotten this far without you and your YouTube videos (I still go back and watch some when I'm stuck)."
Messages like this remind me why I started sharing my knowledge in the first place. Knowing that my teaching continues to help former students, and reaches people beyond the classroom, means so much.
If you haven't subscribed yet, I'd love for you to join me over on YouTube. Every view, like, comment, and subscription helps me continue creating content for the sewing community. ✂️🧵❤️
