This is also what teaching to be a dog groomer looks like. 📖 🐩

It’s learning to identify and remove matted hair safely like the pelt on the floor that was clipped off.

👉The dog this pelt came from had the additional complication of over 70 hidden grass seeds. These needed to be removed from their skin & needed ongoing vet care after their groom.

Dog grooming is a skill which works to improve dog welfare through building client trust.

Puppy grooms are such an important part of growing and learning. 🐾

Our adult dogs often visit the groomers every 6 to 8 weeks throughout their lives. That’s a lot of bathing, brushing, trimming, and time away from their owners, but it’s essential for keeping them happy, healthy, and in tip-top condition—from their nails to their ears!

Puppy grooms can start from as early as 3 months old, helping little ones build confidence, independence, and a positive understanding of the grooming process and all the new sensations that come with it. ✂️🐶💕

Understanding how to safely remove a matted coat is an important part of a groomer’s role.

Matting can be uncomfortable and, in some cases, painful for dogs, so it is essential that it is removed safely and humanely, always putting the dog’s welfare first.

Just as important is education on coat maintenance, regular grooming schedules for owners, and simple home-care routines that help prevent matting from developing in the first place. Working together, we can keep our dogs comfortable, healthy, and looking their best.
