Last week, Year 5 had an amazing DT afternoon, exploring and tasting ingredients in preparation for making Falafels and a Greek salad. All the children tried cucumber, tomatoes, peppers, olives, feta cheese, hummus, a variety of fresh herbs, pitta bread, Greek yoghurt, honey, pomegranate and figs. They had to record adjectives to describe the smell, taste, texture and flavour for each. Some children had a great time exploring different combinations of ingredients: tomato drizzled with honey was a hit! 🥒 🫑 🍅 🫒 🥙

In Nursery, the children have been learning about the importance of brushing their teeth and keeping their teeth healthy. They have talked about good oral hygiene, why people visit the dentist, and how brushing helps to keep teeth strong and clean.

The children enjoyed learning the correct way to brush their teeth, including brushing all around the teeth for two minutes each day. Nursery have enjoyed lots of stories, songs, activities and discussions about brushing their teeth. It is great to see the children gaining confidence in looking after their own teeth and smiles 🦷 🪥

Well done to some of our Year 3 and 4 pupils, who participated in a golf competition yesterday evening ⛳️ 🏌🏼‍♀️ Throughout the evening, they moved around a variety of stations involving different golf skills. On each station, the children were able to win points and, overall, they came 3rd place and met the mayor, who gave their medals to them. Well done!

This evening, many of our Year 5 and 6 pupils have visited Waingels College to receive their Gold Award by the CEO of the Orchard Learning Alliance. Over the year, they have worked incredibly hard to achieve goals such as helping at home, caring for the local environment and taking care of others. We are so proud of all the children that achieved any of the awards but especially of these children achieving Gold! 🏅

Last week, some Year 1 and 2 children participated in a Multi Skills festival. They worked around a range of stations including golf, hockey, tennis, cricket and football skills. They all worked hard and represented Gorse Ride well. Well done! 🏑⛳️🎾⚽️
