Drumming Concert
Tomorrow, at 9:15am, the children in Mr. Sparow’s class (Morpurgo)
will be taking part in a fantastic music concert supported by their drumming teacher from the Music Service.
Family members of the children in this class are warmly invited to come along to enjoy what promises to be a great experience.

We look forward to seeing you then.

Sports days
The weather was kind to us yesterday and our Early Years children
(nursery and reception) did an amazing job during their sports day events.

A HUGE thank you to all parents and carers who came into school to cheer the children along – it really does make a BIG difference to them.
Next Tuesday, weather permitting, it will be the turn of our Key Stage 1 and 2 children to take to the field and, again, parents and carers are warmly invited to join us in school.

Key Stage 2 events will begin at 10:00am.
Key Stage 1 events will begin at 1:45pm.

University visit
As you know, our core values in school are ambition, collaboration,
curiosity, kindness and resilience. We talk a lot about having high
aspirations and goals for the future so yesterday, our Year Six
children were out and about again, this time visiting Durham
University.
The children had the opportunity to visit a college campus and took part in a range of orientation activities just to give them a taster of what higher education can be like. Whilst it seems like a long way down the line before our Year Six are old enough to go to university, time really does fly and it’s never to early to set goals and help them to understand what their future could look like.

Taster days
On Tuesday, this week, our Year Six children, who will be moving to Ferryhill School in September, had the opportunity to visit their new school where they met some of their new teachers; experienced a day in the life of a secondary school student and took part in a range of activities. Then, on Wednesday, our Year Five children also had the opportunity to visit our local secondary school.
These transition visits and taster days are an extremely important part of preparing our children for the next stages in their development. For parents and carers of children currently in Year 5, please be aware that applications for secondary school placements usually open early in September with the closing date normally falling towards the end of October. Sports days
Further to last week’s newsletter, a reminder that it has been necessary to change the date of our Key Stage 1 and 2 sports day. This will now take place on Tuesday 7th July – 10:00am for Key Stage 2 and 1:45pm for Key Stage 1.

Early Years sports day will go ahead as planned on 2nd July starting at 10:00am. More details to follow.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, it is necessary for us to change the date of our Key Stage 1 and 2 sports day. This will now take place on Tuesday 7th July – 10:00am for Key Stage 2 and 1:45pm for Key Stage 1. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
