Our Song is for adults to attend with their babies and preschoolers. A supportive and nurturing environment to sing, socialise and relax together in a stunning location. Facilitated by Shirley Stump, Doula, Sound Healer and Lifemusic Facilitator. Suitable for all abilities. This is a very inclusive group and people can participate as much or as little as they like. Getting out of the house with little ones can be hard work, but getting out to meet new people in a supportive and relaxing environment brings many benefits.

‼️HELP‼️A‼️CHILD‼️IN‼️YEMEN‼️

‼️ Attention please help!
‼️ All children deserve a right to education

Yemen is one of the poorest countries in West Asia…. (Middle East is coloniser’s language and centers London/Washington).

I have known Hanaa and Shawqi in Yemen for over 1.5 years in that time she has birthed their third child and then their twin daughters. They are a wonderful family and Shawqi has helped many people in their community, even though they have very little themselves.

Hanaa has been through so much herself, pre-eclampsia diabetes, high blood pressure, emergency C-sections, infections and so on…

But this post is about their eight-year-old son Baraa who Shawqi told me was desperate to go to school.

Although schools are free to attend, unfortunately in Yemen in some parts over 75% of the schools have been destroyed due to the ongoing humanitarian crisis there. Because of this schools rely heavily on being supported financially to be able to function. So many people have to pay towards their children receiving an education. Many children do not attend school and live in extreme poverty.

So I decided to make a post to help raise US$250 to help cover the fees and supporting Baraa through school and everything he needs. The school let him start even though the money has not been raised yet. Look how happy he is in this reel? He’s beaming and it brings him so much joy to spend a free hours a day being care free ad kids should be and learning to read and write increasing his chances of improving his life.

But unfortunately, the school will not continue to allow him attend if they cannot pay the money.

Megan .palestine2 who is based in Australia set up the fundraiser for this family and has been supporting them for a few years now and we are all in contact with each other, know that if you choose to send money to this family it is verified and legitimate.

Our Song Summer pop-up Music sessions every Wednesday during August at the Milland Recreation Ground 10am and 11am.

These sessions are 40 minutes long and cost £5 per family.

Today was our second week of running them this year and we had a lovely morning, people bring a picnic and many enjoy the grounds after including the playground, community café and The is also the family friendly Rising Sun pub,

Somebody asked me today why I only charge £5 per family and the reason why is I like to give back to my community when I can.

As a mother I know only too well how difficult it can be to find affordable activities to do with children during the holidays and so I wanted to offer these sessions where people do not have to worry about booking in advance, or if they changed their mind on the day or something comes up they do not lose out.

It would not be possible for me to run my business like this all the time so that is why I choose to do it for four Wednesdays every year during the summer holidays where I feel it would be most beneficial to local families.

If any families are struggling financially and struggling to pay to £5, then I am happy for them to pay whatever they can afford even if that’s a pound.

We have two weeks left of these pop up sessions, so far the 10am slot has been the most popular time. The 11am session would suit babies and children who prefer a calmer vibe.

Our Song Outdoor Pop Up summer sessions

Every Wednesday during August 10am and 11am

40 minute music and movement session, only £5 per family, no need to book, just turn up on the day.

Do check this account every Wednesday morning to ensure the classes have not been cancelled due to weather or other reasons before coming along. Send a DM if needed.

Come and enjoy making music with your child and make the most of the morning by bringing a picnic to enjoy after with the playground, the community café and there is also the Rising Sun pub which is very family friendly 🥰

The 11 am sessions tend to be quieter which are good for children who like a smaller group and also perfectly timed to end just in time for lunch 🥪
