We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic music graduate or trainee teacher with excellent subject knowledge in Music that can communicate effectively with a wide age group of students between Years 7 to 13.
It is essential that candidates are able to play the organ, have an evident passion for music and a strong interest in the teaching and the learning process, including high expectations for all students to succeed in Music to effectively fulfil the role.
The role will involve teaching KS3 music with the possibility of teaching up to KS5, assisting with co-curricular music activities and composition lessons, teach one-to-one and small groups of A-Level and IB and support students with theory and aural in preparation for their ABRSM exams. In addition to this, the role will include playing the organ for school Chapel services, accompanying whole school singing, accompanying the school choirs and playing voluntaries.
Felsted School has a busy music department with several concerts over the course of an academic year, as well as Chapel services and other events. The Music Department flourishes in our Senior, Prep and Pre-Prep Schools. There are five full-time members of staff and a team of twenty-six visiting music teachers. Full board and accommodation will be provided plus an honorarium payment on £17,500 per annum. This is a two-year fixed-term position commencing 01 September 2021 and would be an ideal position for someone who holds a relevant degree in Music with excellent organ/accompanying skills and is considering a career in boarding education, teaching (though no teaching experience or teaching qualifications are required) or a career in music.
