Bertie’s is a pre-school nursery for children aged 2 ½ to school age. We are open Monday to Friday during term-time.

Our opening hours are:
9am – 12 noon (morning session)
12noon – 3pm (afternoon session)
9am – 3pm (for a full day)

🌈🧸 APPRENTICESHIP ROLE 🧸🌈

Would you like the opportunity to join our friendly and supportive team at Bertie’s Nursery, and make a difference to young children’s lives? We are looking for an Apprentice to nurture and guide through their training towards a recognised qualification. If you are enthusiastic, caring and keen to learn, then we’d love to hear from you. You must have a love of being outside in all weathers as we’re a very outdoorsy setting.
This is a term-time position - Monday to Friday - 8:45am til 3:30pm with a paid 30 min break.

September Start - This position is for a Level Three Qualified Nursery Practitioner and keyperson. Experience is desirable for this role. There is scope for it to be a Senior Practitioner role if you have a Foundation Degree (Level Five) or full Degree (Level Six). Your qualification must be related to Early Years Childcare and Education.

You will be working in our small friendly team of practitioners in a purpose built preschool nursery for children aged 2.5 to 5 years. We are a term-time only setting and you will be required to work 8.30am - 3.30pm Monday - Friday with a paid 30 minute lunch break. We have termly staff meetings on a Friday for which overtime is paid.

You will have the opportunity to work in a five-times Ofsted ‘outstanding’ Early Years setting, where early childhood is celebrated. You will be a highly motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic practitioner who has a genuine love of being outside in all weathers.

Ready Steady Go…for Healthy Fun Week at Bertie’s! 😃 On Monday we made flags for the World Cup 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 ⚽️ , not forgetting to update our big results chart of course! On Tuesday we prepared and ate our yummy healthy lunch altogether. This was soooo delicious that everyone ate some 🥕 🍓 🧀 🫐 On Wednesday the children tackled tricky obstacle courses…and we celebrated with stickers 🌟 Yesterday we invited our parents to our Summer Tea Party and Natural Thinkers Crafternoon! What a treat to have scones, cream, jam and strawberries 🍓, and cupcakes 🧁 for the children 😋 And finally, today there was dancing…and Wimbledon came to Bertie’s 🎾 Now all of you enjoy a rest over the weekend and we’ll see you next week for the last two weeks of term! 🥰

Thank goodness for water play 💦 at Bertie’s when it’s been so hot hot hot 🥵 the end of this week! There’s been lots of paddling and trying to keep cool 😊 Elsewhere we’ve been following the World Cup ⚽️ and cheering on England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 It’s serious business tracking the scores on our giant wall chart 🙌 Have a lovely weekend and we’ll see you next week 😊

We started the week with snails 🐌 and ended with chocolate and vanilla cupcakes 🧁 I know which I’d rather have! 🤭 Wishing you all a lovely weekend and we’ll see you all next week for more fun at Bertie’s 😊

What a fantastic way to end the week and this term with such amazing weather! ☀️ Of course, we had to make the most of it with ice lollies in the garden 😋 Elsewhere this week we celebrated World Bee Day 🐝 🌺 🐝 in lots of brilliantly buzzy ways. We made bread and enjoyed it with honey 🍯 The children really loved the bee-themed tuff tray and learnt all about hexagons and how they fit together to look like a hive. To finish off the week the children had a splastastic 💦 time this morning, paddling their feet…and the rest of themselves! 🤭
Have a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend and half term and we’ll look forward to seeing you all back at Bertie’s very soon 😊

It’s been all go in our healthy choices Cafe 63 ☕️ this week with SO many customers. The staff have been run off their feet taking orders, serving food and of course doing the washing up!🧑🏻‍🍳 💦 In fact, food has been a common theme all week - the children made fruit smoothies 🍌 🍓 🫐 and enjoyed drinking them 😋 Then today we couldn’t believe our eyes when one of our dads brought in the most amazing strawberries for the children to enjoy. Thank you so much 🙏 We had them at snack this morning then had a sunny strawberry picnic this afternoon ☀️

It’s been a short but fun-filled week at Bertie’s 😀 We’ve been making the most of the lovely weather 🌞 …even the day that the muddy puddles returned! 🫣 We loved exploring gloop - cornflour and water - it goes everywhere! Then we got excited when our new sand, water 💦 tray, wheelbarrow and binoculars came…perfect for more sunny summer weeks outside 🌞 We’ve also been planting and can’t wait to see what grows 🫘 🌻🌾🪴 Have a lovely weekend and we’ll see you next week ☺️

Fancy a tea, hot chocolate, baby chino? ☺️ All these things are on the menu of our new eating place…Cafe 63…opening very soon and completely named and planned by the children! Prices yet to be decided! 💰💰 😱 Elsewhere at Bertie’s this week there’s been a buzz in the air 🐝 with lots of the children really interested in bees at the moment as they’re starting to see them fly around. We’ve been finding out honeybee facts 🍯 The children have also had lots of fun plane-spotting ✈️, and making yummy fruit kebabs for an afternoon picnic 🍓 🍌 🍍 😋

Sun sun sun here it comes ☀️…and haven’t we been making the most of it?! ☺️ We’ve been doing cloud-watching…sand and water 💦 play…ball and parachute games…climbing and jumping…hanging from the monkey 🐵 bars…doing gardening 🪴…hopscotch…enjoying stories and sack races 😃 …and finding our shadows…
Here’s to a weekend rest before we do it all again next week 🤣 Wishing you all a fantastic weekend 🥰
