๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ›๏ธ Library Fun ๐Ÿ›๏ธ๐Ÿ“š

Our love for stories continues to grow every day, so we decided to take a special trip to the Faversham Library to explore even more books together ๐Ÿ“–

The children loved choosing different books to look through and were very excited to borrow some to bring back and share at nursery. We enjoyed sitting on the reading train, looking at books independently, with our friends and with our teachers ๐Ÿš‚๐Ÿ“š

Everyone did such a fantastic job walking carefully to the library and back. Along the way, we enjoyed looking at everything happening around us and spotting familiar places in Faversham, including the Faversham Railway Station and even some of the childrenโ€™s houses ๐Ÿ

A lovely outing filled with stories, exploring and lots of curious little readers! ๐Ÿ“šโœจ

โค๏ธ๐Ÿ“š Stories with our Families ๐Ÿ“šโค๏ธ
As part of our National Storytelling Week celebrations, we invited our families into nursery to share some of their favourite stories with us ๐Ÿ“–
So many of our families joined us and brought along special books from home to read together. Some of the stories we enjoyed included The Gruffalo's Child, Owl Babies and Handa's Surprise.
We all sat and listened so beautifully, enjoying the stories and sharing the moment together with our friends and families ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ‘
A big thank you to everyone who came in to read with us. It was such a lovely way to celebrate our love of stories together โค๏ธ๐Ÿ“š

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿท๐Ÿบ The Three Little Pigs ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿท๐Ÿ“š
โ€œLittle pig, little pig, let me come in!โ€
We always enjoy sharing this classic story together at nursery. It sparked lots of lovely conversations about different ways of building houses and how we might build our own ๐Ÿ
We explored our Three Little Pigs tuff tray and had so much fun acting out the story together. The children used different materials such as straw, sticks and bricks to build houses for the three little pigs ๐Ÿท
There were lots of giggles as we took turns pretending to be the wolf, huffing and puffing and saying, โ€œIโ€™ll huff and Iโ€™ll puff and blow your house down!โ€ ๐Ÿบ๐ŸŒฌ
We also created our own big houses using recycled boxes ๐Ÿ“ฆ The children carefully glued, stuck and painted their boxes, decorating them with hay, sticks and painted bricks to represent the different houses from the story ๐Ÿงฑ
It was wonderful to see everyone getting so creative and bringing the story to life through their play ๐Ÿ˜„

โ€œShe lives in the trees? You should have said! Your mummyโ€™s hiding above your head!โ€
Monkey Puzzle is a big hit in our preschool room! We love looking closely through the pages to spot all the different animals and chatting about which ones are our favourites ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ
We explored our Monkey Puzzle tuff tray while reading the story together. Lots of the children remembered the different phrases from the book and excitedly joined in as we reached their favourite parts ๐Ÿ“š
As the butterfly helps the little monkey find his mum in the story, we also spent time learning about the lifecycle of a butterfly ๐Ÿฆ‹
We talked about how butterflies lay eggs, and from those eggs tiny caterpillars hatch ๐Ÿ› The caterpillars eat lots of food, like crunchy green leaves, which helps them grow bigger and stronger. They then wrap themselves in a cocoon before eventually emerging as beautiful butterflies.
We enjoyed getting creative by making our own butterfly lifecycle pictures, learning that everyone and everything grows and changes in their own way โœจ
To finish, we made our very own cheeky monkey faces using mashed avocado, banana and cocoa powder ๐Ÿต
We carefully spread the mixture onto our rice cakes and used banana slices and blueberries to create the monkeyโ€™s face. A delicious and very funny-looking snack to enjoy! ๐Ÿ˜‹

โ€œ๐ŸŽถ Let it go, let it go, canโ€™t hold it back anymoreโ€ฆ ๐ŸŽถโ€

We absolutely love sharing our Frozen books and dancing along to the music in the garden ๐ŸŽถ This is another firm favourite with us at nursery and always brings lots of smiles and sparkle โ„๏ธโœจ

We had so much fun mark making with watercolours on our cotton-pad snowflakes. We used pipettes to carefully transfer the water and create beautiful patterns and splashes โ„๏ธ
We then extended our learning by asking if we could make Olaf the snowman! We used more cotton pads to build his body and decorated him together โ›„๏ธ

We also explored our glittery tuff tray, creating our own snowflakes, snowmen and princess pictures using paintbrushes โœจ๐Ÿ–Œ
We loved getting glittery hands and pretending we had magical powers of our own ๐Ÿ‘‘

We made our very own Frozen wands using lots of different materials, including glitter and pipe cleaners. We talked about the spells we were going to cast and used our wands in role play with our friends ๐Ÿช„

To finish our day, we sang and danced together to Let It Go and Do You Want to Build a Snowman? ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽค
The perfect magical ending to our Frozen day โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŒณ Stick Man ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ“š

โ€œStick Man lives in the family tree, with his stick Lady Love and their stick children three!โ€

This story is another firm favourite with us at nursery โค๏ธ

We explored our Stick Man tuff tray and followed the adventure he went on to find his stick family. We used our own sticks and travelled together through his journey, drifting down the river, becoming a mast on a sandcastle, getting stuck in the snow and finally making it home safely ๐ŸŒณ

We talked about how special our own families are and how lonely Stick Man must have felt along the way. We explored this activity using all of our senses too ๐Ÿ™Œ

We then made our own Stick Men using playdough, carefully manipulating and shaping our models. We also talked about where sticks come from and how trees grow ๐ŸŒฑ

We became artists and drew beautiful pictures of our families in our very own family trees. We talked about who is in our family, who we live with at home and how everyoneโ€™s homes and families can look different ๐Ÿ
We also chatted about hair colour, eye colour and just how important our families are to us โค๏ธ

To finish, we made our own edible Stick Men! We dipped breadsticks into melted chocolate and added googly eyes ๐Ÿ‘€
A very tasty treat to take home with us ๐Ÿ˜‹

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿฆ‰๐Ÿญ The Gruffalo ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฆ‰๐Ÿ“š

โ€œOh help! Oh no! Itโ€™s a Gruffalo!โ€

This is one of our absolute favourite stories at nursery and we love it so much that many of us can confidently remember and recite the phrases from the book โค๏ธ

We took part in lots of fun activities inspired by the story to extend our learning even further.

We explored our Gruffalo playdough tuff tray, using our hands to mould the playdough into the shape of the Gruffaloโ€™s body. We added purple prickles to his back, a pea for the poisonous wart on his nose and some googly eyes to finish him off ๐Ÿ‘€

We also enjoyed our Gruffalo crumble tuff tray, using utensils to mix, pour and transport. We filled and emptied pots and pans and loved making โ€œfoodโ€ for our friends to try, helping us to build friendships and play together ๐Ÿ˜‹

We then took part in a baking activity to make our very own Gruffalo crumble! We measured, mixed and poured while listening to the story and learning that Gruffalo crumble is the mouseโ€™s favourite food. We used mixed berries for the filling and worked together to make the crumble topping ๐Ÿฅฃ

For tea, we tried โ€˜scrambled snakeโ€™ (eggs) with toastโ€ฆ and it was a huge hit, with lots of us asking for seconds ๐Ÿ˜‹
For pudding, we enjoyed our homemade Gruffalo crumble and owl ice cream ๐Ÿฆ‰๐Ÿฆ
A very happy ending to a very tasty day!

โค๏ธ๐Ÿ“š National Storytelling Week ๐Ÿ“šโค๏ธ

We have had the loveliest time celebrating National Storytelling Week at nursery!

So many of us came dressed up as our favourite book charactersโ€ฆ we spotted pirates, superheroes, the Gruffalo and even our very own Stick Man! ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ๐Ÿฆธโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŒณ

We also enjoyed exploring lots of different dressing-up outfits in our role play area and bringing in our favourite stories from home to share with our friends and teachers โ˜บ๏ธ

There were lots of lovely conversations about which stories we love the most and who our favourite characters are. It was so special hearing everyoneโ€™s ideas and sharing our love of books together โค๏ธ

This week we focused on five stories to celebrate National Storytelling Weekโ€ฆ keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming book posts to see which stories we explored ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ“š

A huge thank you to for dismantling and disposing of our old shed ๐Ÿ‘
From start to finish they were incredibly professional, efficient, and made the whole process completely hassle free. The shed was gone in no time and the area left tidy and clear.

If youโ€™re looking for a reliable team who get the job done properly, weโ€™d happily recommend them โญ๏ธ

Half of children catch chickenpox by age four.
When they do, they're often off nursery or school for a week, meaning missed learning and missed work for parents.
We're rolling out a free NHS chickenpox vaccine as part of the routine childhood immunisation programme.

๐Ÿ“š Trip to the Library ๐Ÿ“š

Preschool enjoyed an exciting outing to the library, and some of us did a fantastic job walking the whole way there ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ
Before going inside, we talked about the importance of using our quiet voices ๐Ÿคซ

We loved exploring a wide range of stories together, sharing books with staff and with each other ๐Ÿ“š
Our favourite part was sitting on the story train while enjoying our books - such a lovely place to read! ๐Ÿš‚โœจ

We even bumped into a couple of our nursery friends while we were there โ˜บ๏ธ
The children were so sensible and respectful, staying calm and quiet throughout the visit.

On our way back to nursery, we stopped by the town centre to see the big Christmas tree and admire all the twinkly lights in the shop windows ๐ŸŽ„โœจ
