Period training plans are a scam
The week before/going into your period MIGHT see a gentle shafting of your energy, mood and appetite
But it might not
Because everyone is fu**ing different
If your period does shaft you a touch, it MIGHT help to adjust your training or nutrition to stop you wanting to rip yours, or someone elses, throat out
Examples could be in training:
The week before/going into your period (luteal phase going into menstruation)
- Shifting workouts so partially traumatic shizzle like leg day doesn't fall on your heaviest days and adjusting your workout days
- Temporarily reducing volume and/or intensity, focusing on form and keeping consistent with movement
- Cracking on anyway. Just if gravity feels like it's increased, don't get in your head about it and keep on keeping on.
With nutrition (espesh relevant with a fat loss goal)
- Increasing kcals by a couple hundred over a few days/week to give more wiggle room for energy/cravings to prevent a f**k-it-bucket-adventure
- Grind through because you're grand in doing so
Ultimately - there's no set way you MUST approach your period.
You may feel those hormones banging around. But this doesn't make you weak or fragile. Just helps to be aware.
Personally I tend to keep on course as normal as my symptoms rarely interfere to a notable degree (fu**ing rude I know). Whereas I know that experience is different for many of you.
Hence why I advise tracking what works/doesn't work for you to shape your set up π€
