Farhnam Town Crier, Mr Stephens, gives the cry for ! 😁
Friday, 5th July. One Night Only at Haslemere Hall. We hope to see you there!
The would like to congratulate Freddie on his latest singing accomplishment.
Freddie recently recorded a stunning cover of "The Prayer" (originally by Celine Dion & Andrea Bocelli) in duet with Jem Sharples of Tenors UnLimited. Jem, a professional tenor and also a parent at MHS, has been a wonderful mentor and support for Freddie. Their beautiful version of the song is now available on YouTube.
Freddie shared that he learnt so much from recording with Jem, and his invaluable input has been a tremendous support. This collaboration is a wonderful testament of our strong and supportive school community. Well done, Freddie. We can’t wait to see what you get up to next!
On a recent , Year Seven spent the day learning some useful life skills including how to change a duvet cover, seed potting and weeding. We hope that these new found skills are practised at home and come in useful!
The nicer weather has allowed us to resume taking the younger boarders on walks and to visit local parks and play areas in the evenings.
So far, have visited Frensham's Hollowdene recreation ground and Peakfield Park - Alice Holt and Frensham Ponds are also firm favorites!
One , Miss Flynn and the Year 7s were looking at 'What is Pride Month?' and why is it celebrated specifically in the month of June.
The boys were taught about the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York, what LGBTQ+ stands for and explored ideas for how to create an inclusive society for all.
One of their activities was to create their own Pride Flags. The boys learnt that different varieties of colours in the flags actually represents different sexualities. Here are their creations...
Don;t Forget!
Twelfth Night Fever is going to Haslemere Hall for ONE NIGHT ONLY!

Year 8 and 9 joined in with an online lesson by the Smallpeice Trust recently. The aim was to make Solar Towers and then to power them to turn using lamps the heat the air around them. ☀️ The boys did a great job... but the towers were a little reluctant to turn round!
Many thanks to the Maths department for facilitating the activity for the Science department. This is the product of the increased collaboration between these two STEM subjects this year.
It is Activity Week 2024 and pupils from every year group are venturing out on trips, excursions and day trips to the local area and much further afield.
We hope all the staff and pupils involved have a fun-packed week full of new experiences and quality time with friends. Our pupils make life-long memories during Activity Week, and we are sure that this year will be no exception.
Many thanks to Mr Cooper and all the staff involved in the planning, organisation and running of Activity Week; such a rich and memorable experience for our pupils would not be possible without your efforts.
Mr Cooper wishes everyone a wonderful week in his video message...

Together they kneaded and shaped the dough, and loaded it with tomato sauce and their choice of toppings before it was cooked in the outdoor pizza ovens. What an exciting activity for the Juniors, we hope they had great fun learning some useful culinary skills!
Summer is upon us and the are making the most of the lighter evenings and warmer weather.
The swimming pool opened at the start of term which is always a firm favourite for the boarders. The boys have also been taking to the school field for ball games and other evenings activities, having fun with friends outdoors.

Lower Sixth Tuck Shop project
This term the Year 12 Life Skills classes have been working on a small business project during which they have gained some key entrepreneurial skills. In groups, they have gone through the motions of creating a business and will be selling their product - the More House Milkshake! Each group have produced their own concoctions and across a period of two and a half weeks, will be selling everything from doughnut milkshakes to berry smoothies!

Congratulations to the latest group of boarders that reached 100 'pizza points' last half- term! Boarders also celebrated a momentous occasion as three boys reached 200 points - the first to do so!
Recently, Year 8s were investigating osmosis in Science.
They explored the effects of soaking an egg in a concentrated salt solution versus soaking it in pure water and how it affects the egg's mass 🥚
The shell is waterproof, so the boys had to soak the eggs overnight in vinegar which reacts with the calcium carbonate in the shell, stripping it away and leaving the porous membrane behind.
One of the eggs was also dyed with food colouring so we could see some of the internal structure... take a look!
NEVER A DULL MOMENT IN BOARDING...
One of the Year 11s organised a football tournament for the older boarders last
half-term. With a little help from staff, the boys played, refereed and acted as linesmen one summer's evening.

had an unexpected visitor earlier this week 🦊
This little fox was sunbathing on the grass behind one of the offices near Main House.
We managed to take a couple of lovely photos from a safe distance before it scuttled back off through the hedges.
To mark the occasion of World Bee Day last half-term, Simon John and the fantastic created a taster menu featuring all things honey...
Pupils and staff were given the chance to try special treats such as:
- Raw set honey on toast
- Greek yoghurt with runny honey
- Homemade baklava with honey
- They were delicious!

We are so proud of the Year Seven boys who organised a cake sale in aid of Cancer Research last half-term.
This event was a huge (and delicious) success with £217 raised! Thank you to all those who donated and bought cakes to support this fantastic cause.
We are pleased to report that the school bell has, at last, been hung for ringing on the side of the Chapel of Christ the King!
The bell pre-dates all current employees of and had been clumsily fixed on a bracket in various locations with a sorry chain and large nut fitted inside to sound it. The bell has no inscription other than ER 1952, so was undoubtedly cast to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation.
This year a new frame and hanging fittings have been created to allow the bell to be swung and sounded properly. John Taylor & Co. of Loughborough kindly supplied an iron clapper to go inside the bell and the frame has been painted in colours. Our talented maintenance department then finalised the framework and rope chute to allow the bell to be operated from inside the Chapel before hanging it in its new location.
It is anticipated that the bell will be rung to signal the end of break times and possibly to announce services in the Chapel. Thanks to all involved in making this project come to fruition.
Our favourite feathery visitors returned to roost in The Shire at More House again this year.
The MHS picked up some images of 8 little eggs in the bird box a few months ago. These eggs were looked after and soon 8 chicks emerged from their shells 🐦🐣
The chicks quickly found their voices and started to call out for food as they grew.
All chicks have now fledged, and we hope they are doing well in the big wide world!
Our Year 6 pupils recently received their 'leavers' jumpers and here they are wearing them with pride!
These jumpers are to signify the boys transitioning from the Junior School into the Middle Years at More House in September.

Transforming their Journey
Our school boasts a rich, 81-year history of supporting boys with Specific Learning and Language difficulties in realising successes far beyond their expectations. Whilst our academic results at GCSE, A Level and BTEC are consistently above the national average for all schools, the education experienced by More House students is much broader than exam syllabus prescription.
Many of our boys arrive with little self-confidence. As one community, we build pupils’ academic, creative, sport and social achievement. A wide curriculum of academic subjects is complemented by an inspiring extra-curricular programme, so that each boy is successful amongst his peers, and learns to recognise that success.
Building our students’ self-confidence and independence enables them to transform their lives, achieving remarkable academic success, and pursuing aspirational futures. For the majority this means continuing their education by progressing from our Sixth Form to universities, into industry-based learning or to other further education courses.
