Barfield School Raising the Barfield ✨ | Prep School for boys & girls 2–11 | Balance for learning, Belief in self, Boots for adventure | 📍Farnham, Surrey

We aim to give our children a complete educational experience, with outstanding academic teaching in an excellent pastoral setting, and to prepare them fully for the senior school of their choice. Our central belief is that our children should be happy and positively challenged in what they do, and they will achieve to very high levels. Set in 12 acres of beautiful grounds, one mile east of Farnham, the school was founded in 1933 and became an educational trust in 1963. It is a co-educational preparatory day school, providing the best possible education for the 21st century. A happy and respectful rapport between children and staff at Barfield is a wonderful platform for engaged learning. Small class sizes ensure children can work at their own pace while being encouraged, challenged and rewarded in all aspects of their school life. Our outdoor pursuits department, Three Peaks Barfield, makes full use of the extensive grounds and runs Holiday Activity Camps, Birthday Parties, Swimming School and Saturday Sports Courses. All are open to pupils and non-pupils.

Our Nursery and Lower School children enjoyed high-energy African Dance workshops yesterday as we continue to celebrate Black History Month. From learning traditional moves to moving to the vibrant beat of the drums, the children (and teachers) truly got their toes tapping and their spirits high.

It was a wonderful, immersive way to explore rich cultural heritage through music and movement.

To kick off Black History Month this October, we were delighted to welcome Author and book Influencer, Claire Linney to Barfield today. Claire is passionate about increasing diversity and representation in children's literature. Inspired by Miranda Kauffman's Black Tudors: The Untold Story, she has worked to bring some lesser-known stories of British history to life through her highly engaging books, Time Tub Travellers.

Claire delivered not only a brilliant Assembly for the whole school, but also 4 fantastic sessions with the Upper School children.

And he's off. Mr Boyle is out to do his MiDAS refresher assessment. We are very fortunate to have Mr Gore on site, who is a qualified assessor 🙌 and will put Mr B through his paces.

We've also had delivery of our fourth Minibus as we now have 3 routes offering morning collections and an afternoon return.

Always looking to improve our offering to make things easier for our wonderful parent community.

Our Year 5s headed outside for a practical Maths lesson this week, gathering real data to use in their decimal calculations.

They paired up, armed with stop watches, to see how long it took them to do 30 jumps each. 2 rounds of normal jumps, and 2 rounds of star jumps. This gave them a chance to get outside and gather real time data, which they used in various calculations back in the classroom.

Learning made fun!

Our Art Department has been a hive of activity this term! We've had so many inspiring lessons and clubs taking place each week, with the children and Mrs White getting to know each other better.
