The children were given a mystery item to explore and to guess what they thought it could be. They felt the outside and said it felt 'soft' and 'spikey'. They said it was green and had some brown areas. One child commented that it looked like a carrot. So, we compared a carrot and noticed that it was a different colour and not smooth like a carrot. The children then discovered it was in fact a young pinecone from a fur tree. We looked at an older pinecone that had fallen off a tree in Autumn to see how they were different. This one had opened out and turned brown and hardened.

We have been reading 'Snail Trail' by Jo Saxton. The children have created a snail picture using collage like the snail in the book, which is from Matisse's The Snail (L'Escargot). The children looked at the painting Number 20 by Jackson Po***ck and used paint to create their own drips and drops picture.

The children have created snails and worms from salt dough. After the dough dried out the children painted them.

The children are preparing the fruit for snack. They have been peeling and chopping the fruit. The children put the peelings into the wormery to make compost.

We are seeking to recruit a passionate and enthusiastic Childcare Practitioner to join our small friendly team in Farnham.

At Pj's we operate a whole age nursery, where the children are cared for in a mixed age group within a home like environment. The indoor and outdoor areas provide bountiful opportunities for the children to explore and learn through first-hand experience and social interaction.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate a commitment to provide high quality care and teaching abilities across all early years age groups. You will help to plan and deliver engaging play experiences for the children that promote and build on their experience, interests and individuality.

Working hours are 38 per week over 4 days a week - Mondays to Thursdays. The salary range is competitive and dependent on the candidates abilities/experience.

We have investigated the signs of spring, looking at leaf buds and blossom. We have looked at daffodils, drawing and painting them.
This week we are exploring the colour yellow.

We have been exploring making tracks using paint and ink. The children have created animal tracks, vehicle tracks and hand and foot prints. We have been reading stories which include looking at tracks - Lost in the Snow by Linda Jenning and Alison Edgson and The Gruffalo's Child by Julia Donaldson. The children have follwoed foot prints around the garden.
