With only 90 pupils, aged between 4 and 7, St Mary's provides children with a wonderful introduction to school life, and has built an excellent reputation over its 170 year history. Set in an idyllic location on Frensham village green in South Farnham, the school combines excellent modern facilities and teaching, with traditional Christian family values. St Mary's is a feeder school to both Waverley Abbey and South Farnham Juniors.

Operating as usual

This morning we were visited by Claire from Farnham Youth Choir who ran a singing workshop with all of the children who absolutely loved it! If you would like more information about joining the wonderful Farnham Youth Choir, please visit:

Today our Year 1 Kingfisher Class have been having lots of fun making alien puppets. They have been reading 'Beegu' by Alexis Deacon and will use their puppet creations as prompts to help write their own alien stories next week.

Happy New Year and welcome to the Spring Term! We hope all of our families enjoyed a happy and restful Christmas. Today the children are learning about Epiphany and the arrival of the three kings. At St Mary's we follow the ancient French tradition of celebrating with cakes and the lucky child from each class who discovers a chocolate star hidden in theirs is crowned King or Queen for the day.

...and so the time has come,
It’s time for us to fly.
Your magic was successful,
We’re way up in the sky.
You gave us fun and laughter,
You filled our hearts with cheer.
So long and cheerio my friend,
We’ll visit again next year!
Love your cheeky elves Twinkle, Pip and Riddles

Amazing work on your quest for names children, you were successful in our game and we are back causing mischief!
Introducing… Pip, Riddles and Twinkle!

We’re having a fabulous time! We spied the boss popping in for an early Christmas visit to the St Mary's children. Then Ali came to help Caroline make a delicious lunch. It smelt yummy… we hope there are some leftovers for us? ’selves

Today our Year 2 children have enjoyed an exciting curriculum day on the Great Fire of London. They made bread rolls for Thomas Farriner in his Pudding Lane bakery, designed and built period houses and even had a visit from a modern day firefighter. Many thanks to Mr Hanrahan for giving up his time and answering so many eager questions.

As we look towards Advent, today everyone at St Mary's made a Christingle and learnt about this special tradition. We also submitted our entry to the ‘God’s Gift’ Guildford Cathedral Schools’ Christmas Art Exhibition which is open to the public from 1st December 2023 – 3rd February 2024. Well done Mrs Saich and the St Mary's Art Council for creating such a beautiful piece, which we hope will bring joy to the Cathedral's visitors.

St Mary's are having a spotacular day to support Children In Need again this year! Children and staff came to school dressed in all things spotty in aid of this very worthy cause. School Council and our very own Pudsey were out early this morning collecting donations as children arrived for school - thank you to our families for your generosity!

This morning Miss Allan and our Year 2 Worship Leaders attended the Farnham Remembers service led by the Mayor of Farnham at the War Memorial in Gostrey Meadow. The children delivered a poem composed by the school and laid a wreath on behalf of everyone at St Mary's. Meanwhile the rest of the school marked Remembrance Day with a special assembly to pay tribute to the service of our Armed Forces. Many thanks to trumpeter James from More House School for joining us and playing The Last Post.

After a busy morning of baking cupcakes and making decorations, our Year 1 class donned their finest party clothes and enjoyed an afternoon 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea'-Party. Whilst there were no firsthand sightings of our stripy visitor, the class smartboard showed some CCTV footage of him sneaking into class and those keen-eyed Kingfishers did spot a few paw prints, missing cakes and tell-tale trails of crumbs.

Welcome to St Mary's where amazing things happen! We are really looking forward to welcoming families today to our Open Morning 9:30am - 11am - do come and see us if you can! If you are not able to come along please contact the School Office to make an appointment for a tour.

Our Year 1 class have been immersed in the story of 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea' by Judith Kerr. They have been very busy writing invitations and recipes and creating decorations ready for a tea party with cakes they will bake themselves on Friday!

We are holding an Open Morning on Friday 6th October 9:30am - 11am for prospective parents - please share! If you or anyone you know has a child starting school in September 2024 please contact the school office to book in. We look forward to showing you around our lovely school.
